Netweather and snow mirages in the last few frames of its outlook in winter is best described as a permanent known fault!

It does look like a gradual cool down for the start of December.

The Arctic is now averaging about -15C (was -5C) and the worst of the cold over Russia is possibly shrinking and certainly currently slipping the 'wrong' way, maybe the vortex is reestablishing?

It's good in that a N blast may now be cold enough to bring some snow, but bad that chances of an E beast seem to be ebbing for now (drier air anyway).

GFS charts are the road to madness!

Somewhere over Northumberland...

I've flown in to Glasgow and Edinburgh so many times and never seen the Cairngorms looking so beautiful in white. Sadly not able to photograph with a camera phone.
The sky was super clear today as well. These were up over Loch Tay / Ben Lawers. Chilly when you are chilling outside tho wink

Anything fun on the south coast this weekend? That chart doesn't mean much to me as a layman.

The sky will be green with some yellow and orangey stripes.

See the tweet I've quoted above. Massive difference in the models, so it might happen/it might not...

Looks like we could be hit by a mammoth. But probably not.

What's the rules on using a snowplough on the road if you're just a regular PH kind of person, rather than a council hi-vis snowplough person?
May be wrong, but previously I've heard some discussion over liability insurance...like £10 million minimum!

You clear a drift containing someones's pride and joy and who's to blame?

We have a local private care home that allows it's groundsman + tractor + plow to clear the village roads (and he does a fab job) but they ran into some 'discussions' with LA and had to argue they needed safe ambulance tracks to the nearest A roads...but as the care home has a comprehensive insurance policy (as you would handling frail peeps) he can continue. For now. But with added amber flashers.

Sounds about right.

I mean, I wasn't going to go out and by a new John Deere with multi-axis snow blade.

But what if I was to bend my old barbecue into a sort of plough shape, and then attach it to the front of my little van so I can clear my own route to work. I'll put my flashing beacons on the roof...

(Don't worry, I'm not actually going to do this)

Glad there wasn't much ramping - stand down on any imminent large-scale snow...

Well...

Once upon a time the GFS was showing cold and snow for this weeken and for early December. The ECM was firmly against it, and for this weekend scored a stunning victory. The GFS backed down for early December and everyone went back to hunting for cold...

The next day the ECM screamed cold for early December, and the charts for Xmas day are positively obscene.

We'll get what we're given!
