Glad they have gone and caused no issue.
We had a load turn up on the currently unused land next on our office park last summer, the first day, was asked how they got on and was told they just found it accessible. Site manager shows me the video of the first guy hitching one of their transits to the giant concrete blocks and dragging it out of the way - must have taken some effort to do that but they did it,., twice!
They said they would spend a week, and they did, but for that week, they were in and out on their transit vans all day, letting their grubby little kids ride their bike around our car park and their dog st everywhere. End of the weak - massive pile of rubbish left on the dead ground that our site owner had to pay to get cleared away.

Indeed they do.
Yep, I quite often see a traditional Romany gypsy caravans, with horses tied up to graze nearby, on the wide verges next to the A-roads around Bromsgrove. They're not on anybody's land as far as I can tell and there never seems to be any rubbish left behind. I think there's definitely a distinction to be drawn.underwhelmist said:

There was 24 hour security on the site. A group of around 10 pitched up in the middle of the night, cut the padlock on the gate parked in the yard. Physically evicted the security guard.
Bailiffs instructed and as they werent in the building invited to be present to evist them. Police arrived late and there were now 30 on site. Police refused bailiffs access due to fear of breach of the peace as bailiffs and police outnumbered.
Next day reinforcements but now they are in the unit so police powers no longer apply, court order served yesterday. We believe there are around 120 on site! Huge piles of waste already.

As well as the muck spreading trick I've also heard it works to park a hearse with an empty coffin in it right outside their site. They're an incredibly superstitious bunch (especially the women) and apparently this'll have them hot-footing it fairly sharpish..
Could be complete bks though, never had travellers invade my land and I don't own a hearse..... or a coffin...or any land!

That's the bit I struggle with. How come they get a completely separate set of rules to the rest of us?
We get them round our way - no way I could pitch up with a caravan and set myself up for a nice holiday where/how they do.
Because, rightly or wrongly (see: wrongly) they are perceived as some sort of minority who therefore have the automatic right to cry racist/discrimination and such forth. We get them round our way - no way I could pitch up with a caravan and set myself up for a nice holiday where/how they do.
Burn 'em all I say.

About 15 vans turned up in our village. Cleared off by council within 24 hours (Tour de France coming through next day so I think they fancied a nicking spree whilst everyone was lining the roads)
The amount of rubbish generated in 24 hours was unbelievable. It filled about 2 parking bays in the car park they'd used

One way of earning a few bob is charging to redistribute rubbish. About 15 vans turned up in our village. Cleared off by council within 24 hours (Tour de France coming through next day so I think they fancied a nicking spree whilst everyone was lining the roads)

Ironically one week it was "gypsy and traveller awareness week". This meant magazines, fact sheets, cook books and even themed food in the staff canteen, was kicking about in the building for a few weeks. Who dreams this stupid stuff up, I have no idea.
Now previously I've actually managed the staff, managing an official site: so I know exactly what we're dealing with here: I don't need some PC magazine spouting nonsense to pretend otherwise.
Now whilst all this PC stuff was happening: 2 caravans, plus vans, cars pitched up in a field opposite. Oh the irony ! they must have stayed put for about 4 weeks.
needless to say, when they left the volume of refuse left behind was staggering.
