With a mate of mine I keep my smug opinions to myself, he used to proclaim that having a kid was the making of him and the best thing since sliced bread and nothing on earth could beat that feeling that parents get.

I will give it a miss ta, his son or man child's turned out st, he is a thieving smack head who gives zero fks about anyone or everything, has milked his parents like a prize cow, caused untold sleepless nights, stress and misery.

He was also a pretty st child as well despite the best efforts of his parents.

Having kids is obviously a joint decision.

Unless of course you marry the local bike smile

Maybe she couldn't. I've been out with two women over the years who couldn't, the last one i'm still with. I always valued them really highly over the others. I kind of regret letting the first one go, but I was going through a bad patch and wasn't the person then that I am now. She has a horse instead...
Then there was the one who said she didn't, but now has two...
Oh and the one who was pushing 40 and seemed desperate to have some, I dropped her pretty quickly mainly because of that. looking on her FB page it looks like she never had any anyway!

Slightly Off Topic. Millionaire car bloke James May doesn't have kids does he. Has he ever spoken about it? TBH I don't even know if he has a partner.
Partnered to Sarah Frater, no kids AFAIK.

I've had none and never wanted any mainly because I don't want that feeling of being tied down. Even though I may not exercise the right to do loads of stuff, I have to feel that if I wanted to I could. Having that knowledge that I can do what the fk I like, when I like is what keeps me sane.
In many ways it's been a horrible year for me and my close family (lots of deaths), so after the latest major one I felt the need to take some time out and be kind to myself, grieve etc. Not having much in the way to tie me down has let me do just that and at my own pace.
If I ever feel the need to help humanity more than I have already I'll take on one or two that nobody else wants.

Joking apart, she's pretty much on the fence. If I'd wanted them we probably would have had them, but I don't think she's that worried that we didn't.

It permanently baffles me, given that it is our sole purpose in life, how incredibly f**king hard it is raising children.

Don't get me wrong, I love and adore my daughter with every fibre of my being and would gladly lay down my life to save hers. She's the light in my day and what helps me sleep at night.

But by Odin's beard she can be an obnoxious, infuriating little tt a lot of the time.

I would, but PH would ban me and the police would arrest me.

Inherited one when I was 18 and had another at 21. Had the snip at 26 to ensure no more.

No regrets but can understand why people choose not to. In my case it was simple numbers preventing me having more, world population etc etc.

Is it as bad as I fear it is going to be? I've got one at 18 months and one due in 2, and am already rehearsing variants of 'you - go to your room - and you, fk off and never come back'.

In a dozen years you`ll be living in an episode of Hollyoaks.

Good luck with that. Wouldn`t have one in a lucky bag.

Children are great. Trouble is modern slavery means we're tied to jobs and careers to simply make basic standard of living. We spend far too much time at work and are too tired to truly enhance ourselves through giving time to others and experiencing life. So being childless is more convenient, frees up time and hassle. I think the vast majority regret it in older age. It's always nice to have others around that care, and even better to experience someone else's achievements and appreciate them more than your own.
