Show us your laser
Discussion
OK, so I suppose I have a bit of a collection now if I include laser levels, measures, pointers and the like. At least that means I can keep the thread going on my own if nobody wants to join in.
Anyway, let's see your laser and perhaps you'd like to show us what you use it for.
Bonus points for anything other than a red laser pointer on a keyring.
Points will be subtracted if you use it to blind Easyjet pilots or burn the ears of cute kittens.
Please be responsible as we don't want this thread to be an example of why there should be new laws preventing us from buying more lasers!
I'll start with one:
It's a bore sighter shown fitted into the barrel of one of my shotguns. Used to check sight alignment and gun fit.
Over to you

Unfortunately if you look closely you can see the guy with the plasma torch under the table (well maybe not but he is there).I'm involved in this project: http://radiclelaser.eu/ some of the lasers involved are 10kw and 20kw. They're not shone at planes (technically a lie, they're shone at bits of planes when they're being made). Unfortunately they're not my lasers.

Would it not be fair to say your request is a little on the narrow side?
Or am I the only person that doesn't have a laser and knows no one else with a laser?
Bet you do have a laser, got a CD/DVD/Bluray player at home, if so you own a laser.Or am I the only person that doesn't have a laser and knows no one else with a laser?
Question - When you fire your laser does it make the pew-pew noise or do you have to do that yourself?

I would have thought any self-respecting PH'er would at least have considered buying a wholly inappropriate and arguably dangerous gadget such as a laser at some point in their lives.Or am I the only person that doesn't have a laser and knows no one else with a laser?
The 'gun cabinet' thread has over 1300 replies, after all.
Possibly, I'm in a really small minority for having lasers AND guns
How about widening it to lasers you have worked with or seen being used?

What's the limit on lasers over here then?
I'm almost certain that a load of those I see advertised online as "OMG THEY CAN LIGHT A CIGARETTE" are probably not allowed over here?
However, I want to have a go at that laser rust removal.
There's not really a limit as such i.e. there are no specific laws to stop you buying a 'rust burner' but price is usually the barrier to entry above a certain power and you might be asked a few questions if you enquired about an industrial laser for home use I'm almost certain that a load of those I see advertised online as "OMG THEY CAN LIGHT A CIGARETTE" are probably not allowed over here?

I have a UV laser for curing a resin I use for fly tying, bonkers use for a laser I know, but hey! It does mean I don't have to use smelly varnish which is handy. It only needed a UV light, but everyone one needs at least one laser.Or am I the only person that doesn't have a laser and knows no one else with a laser?

I also have a laser sight on my air rifle to as works very well for judging distance out to 40 yards.

I would consider buying one and setting up shop with that as a business, surely I would have a string of customers wanting their VW Splitty vans de-rusted every couple of years?
But for a laser pointer, what could I reasonably expect to buy?
I've been looking at laser for a very specific purpose, and spoken to a guy in Scotland who specialises in high powered stuff. 2000mw + type of stuff
I have a reef tank at home, and a problem with any tank is a pest anemone called Aiptasia. Grows like an underwater weed, and stings fish and other corals. In a small tank it can be treated by squirting a bit of lemon juice at the centre of it. In a 1200 litre, 6'x3'x2' tank, it's not quite as simple as that.
So I've been looking at lasers. Or sharks. With frikkin lasers on their heads...

The problem being is that lasers underwater tend to refract, and bounce around a bit. Even if I wear the protective goggles, it won't stop the light blinding my fish who tend to take an interest in what I'm doing any time I walk near the tank. I'm quite attached to my Tangs, and the thought of accidentally blinding them is not relished.
