The x means nothing unless you know she doesn't do it to others.
However as mentioned getting some chocolates back mean she doesn't think you're a complete weirdo and so would like to be friends or more.
Or that she thinks you are one but feels guilty about you getting her something and so felt she needed to return the favour....

Or it may simply mean she's being polite.She might do exactly the same if you were a female neighbour, doesn't mean she's a lesbian.
That's the thing, you may as well flip a coin for all that context that a thread on here can put on it.
