First of all, ghosts and hauntings are the stuff of fantasy.

Our house was built in 1854 so I suspect someone may have died in it over the years. The previous owners mother used to live in the annex, which was added on in the 1980s. We recently found out she died in it, in what is now our daughers toy room. To date, none of the Barbies appear to be possessed.

I wouldn't want to live in a house with a particularly grim reputation but that's out of respect for the dead rather than the fear of something going bump in the night.

PS. Recently he was replacing a washing machine or tumble drier in the utility room, when he pulled the appliance out he found a 12" chrome silver disc with a pullup handle and two slots covered with a rotating disc, this turned out to be an expensive looking floor safe the type with a thick plug style locking top, which sits flush with the floor. No keys, obviously, but my money would be on the safe having something in it. biggrin

He just placed his new appliance were the old one was carried on as normal, I would have to try and open the safe, I wouldn’t be able to leave it alone, I keep asking him if we can dig it out, he is not interested at all.
This deserves a thread all on its own, 'Gangsters safe in my floor' would be good.
You could provide daily updates with pictures, maybe use a red MX5 to pull the safe out the ground or something.

I thought this myself, but then I realised it would inevitably develop to the point where all was about to be revealed, then NeMiSiS would mysteriously stop posting updates. The thread would descend into madness, with people randomly bumping the thread for years to come in the vain hope of some kind of closure...

what was inside that Nazi bunker?...

If you've not found it yet how do you know it exists?

Selling it on as others have mentioned would be a pain. The Amityville house's value somewhat recovered in the 90's and 00's however it's recently sold at a lower price than what the previous owner paid for it I think.

Two different neighbours had told me. I had new carpet laid in our bedroom yesterday, was dissapointed to find nothing under it.

Murders in the house - Nope, not a chance
Suicide - Probably not, it would have to be a nice place and not a gruesome suicide.
Random dying old age ? - I'd even think twice about that.

There's enough nice houses in the world.

The gangster one probably wouldn't bother me until I read the stories about people turning up, I could live without the hassle. Totally get not opening the safe, someone sometime could well turn up for it. I would probably open it and hope to blag that it was opened before I moved in if it ever came to it.

And the unquestionable evidence for the existence can be found where? Really though, it's such a preposterous concept it doesn't warrant contemplating.

I had the same problem when I purchased one of my cars a while back. The guy had gassed himself. There were obvious signs that he had been living in it. Shoes, clothes, bank statements, letters from his family and children as well as photos of (I hope!) his children.

Thought long and hard about buying it but it was very cheap. In the end I thought...well people die in houses so what is the difference?

I would love a haunted house.

I was hoping they were going to find the disassembled Amber Room.

Nothing like a spot of optimism yes

I'm more worried about the fact that million of years ago a Dinosaur probably died where my house is.

Which does raise the point why people never claim to see Dinosaur ghosts, or ghosts of our pre-historic ancestors etc. scratchchin

If you disagree then feel free to prove otherwise, there are several unclaimed prizes for proof of paranormal existence. You'll be a multi-millionaire.

I'd live in a notorious house because why not?
