I've now sent 7 items by Myhermes and all have arrived in a reasonable time and intact.
Just for balance like smile
I've sent over 300 in the last 12 months, never had a complaint , some have been dropped off by me at noon and I've received + feedback the next day , most won't pay the £11-15 most courier companies want to 10kg next day , £6.50 is a bargain

'damaged', you can interpret that as 'stolen'.

What'll happen now is they'll say it'll be going back to sender but it'll never get there. After some time the seller will eventually get a refund, assuming he paid the insurance

nothing worse than ordering somethnig then getting an email saying "myhermes/yodel will be delivering your parcel"

I just write it off in my head and take it as a welcome suprise if it turns up. How they continue to exist is amazing.

You were right! Seller has advised that MyHermes now say the 'damaged' item is no longer to be found anywhere rolleyes

Poor seller now left with a £25 compensation offer. Apparently it was the seller's son who chose MyHermes, a lesson learnt for the lad, to not use MyHermes, and to pay more for cover.

Wonder if a courier can actually get away with not paying out full value if taken to court though.

They can get away with it, because their liability is limited as per their terms and conditions (which are accepted by the sender when they contract with the delivery company). Thats why these delivery companies usually offer extra insurance.

Holy thread resurrection.

What the card should have said was "by bins, in the pouring rain".

They get a lot of bad press but I've had a lot of dealings with them and never had a problem

I've had friends that have had very bad service too - but 'touch wood' no problems here.

The delivery and collection seems to be done by a couple (as in, him & Her team) - Always very polite and do a great job.

... as with most things in life, its down to the individual at the end of the chain.

Couriers tend to leave stuff inside the green (recycling) bin, happened for years. Well, over a decade! laugh

Before we moved our MyHermes delivery driver was an attractive girl, probably in her early twenties. Made a pleasant change from the usual delivery drivers! She's captured on Streetview pushing a parcel through our door.

We believe you, but more importantly, does your missus?!
Did she put your parcel in her safe place?

Thread resurrection time!

Having a lovely old time with Hermes. We sold a load of the kid's toys on their behalf via ebay. All but one of them was paid for immediately and were all collected by our Hermes lady (who's great by the way) the day after. All good. The last one was paid for the day after so I booked in another collection but they didn't turn up. I checked the following day and the tracking info on ebay just says 'collection address query' - delayed. I stuck the tracking no. into hermes site and it says please get in touch (no actual contact from them, would that be so difficult?). I eventually found a telephone number that turned out to be wrong. The correct one only answers from time to time and even then finishes at 4pm. The rest of the time it says the number is not in use. When I eventually do get through, I'm speaking to an automated system who just tells me there is a problem with the address and I have to get in touch with my vendor. That's fking me!! Autobot on their website is the worst I've ever used, total waste of time. And there is no apparent way to cancel the collection either so now it appears to simply be in limbo.

I'm sure I'm going to end up paying for postage twice which isn't the end of the world but once again I ask myself how Hermes are still in business? I suppose the answer to that is that they take payment for a service that they don't fulfil and offer no support whatsoever in with the deal. Arrrrrgh. Rant over. Sorry for lack of swearing. I'll try harder next time.
