Stove fan on Gas stove?

Anyone got any experiences good or bad? I know they are useful on wood burners just curious to know if they work well on gas stoves.

Before anyone accuses me of being a wimp for having gas it was in the house when I bought it!

Would it work? The surface that the fan stands on has to get hot, my fan kicks in when the top of the stove gets to about 300 degs.F.
