I remember reading an old thread on here years ago from some old guy working offshore in the oil fields in Asia who'd married a young Filipino girl and bought a big house for her in the Philippines somewhere and then had her mother move in with them yikes. Dunno if he still posts on here (can't remember the username) but he isn't going to be short of a few quid in that line of work and that kind of money would go a very long way in the Philippines. His young wife and family just biding their time? scratchchin I guess when you're balls deep in some hot, young pretty thing you don't worry about things like that eek.
King Herald?

Still active I think.
Moving back to the UK soon - with his wife and child - and I'm sure, All That Jazz, he's thrilled with your thinly veiled accusation of him being some sort of sex tourist/paedo.

Not sure how you've reached that conclusion unless you have an overactive imagination confused. My only thoughts on such arrangements are simply as already stated in my OP : "I can't be the only one that sees this as one big well orchestrated scam, surely? Marry an old English guy with a few quid, get him to build you a house, wine and dine you etc, then bide your time til he pops his clogs and you clean up with his estate and then move on to the next victim?". It's clear from the bulk of the replies in this thread that I'm not alone in this thinking either.

Yep. That's the undercurrent I'm getting from the OP.

I'm no expert but £20m divided by nearly 20 will produce a figure of £1m and a bit, so I agree with your friend...

My uncle is married to a lady from Thailand, they live out there with her family. They've been together for around 15 years and have a son who must be 10 years old now. He's roughly 65 and I seem to recall she's 30 years younger than him. I haven't spoken to him for many years due to him being a thieving sack of s**t who for reasons unknown to us supposedly can no longer enter the UK. No idea why and an internet search hasn't brought anything up.

I've never met her, nor my cousin. I have no desire to either.

Well, you can't be banned as such, after all Ronnie Biggs wasn't banned. It's just that the consequences may not be very good, should you choose to return.

After all, I'm not necessarily banned from starting an argument with Mike Tyson. It wouldn't be very wise though.

I can see why, many of them are very attractive. Maybe it's time to trade in MrsHorneyMX5? biggrin

All I need to do is find a young and attractive Thai girl who doesn't mind living in a one bed flat in Basingstoke rammed to the roof with car related junk and a husband who spends most of his time in car parks being beardy about small Japanese topless cars.

Hummm, maybe I'm lucky with the one I have already.

Eeh, living the dream, eh? Just think, keep on working the way you are and maybe you can one day upgrade to, say, a 2 bed semi in Grimsby. Why not dream? The sky's the limit.

This was my thinking all over! You're more likely to be robbed by an English one.

No I don't have a thai bride...

Your obviously a typical, sensible Piston Head spending all your money on private education for the sprogs, buy to lets and pensions though, right??

Otherwise they will find you, there's no place for poor car enthusiasts here, money matters:-

We don't know if it's anything legal stopping him, or if he is avoiding certain people, or that he is just a liar and full of crap. All we know is that soon after my Grandfather passed away he emailed my mother asking for her to arrange transportation of possessions left to him as he 'wasn't allowed to enter the UK' to collect them.

He is a very shady character. A brief list of stunts he has pulled:

-'Borrowed' tens of thousands of pounds from my grandparents with his first wife before disappearing for 10 years

-While my grandfather was hours from death having been taken off life support, he ransacked his house and stole his OBE and 2 personalised fountain pens my grandparents had had made in the 60s for each other.

-Spent most of his time at the funeral trying to 'seal deals in rice that will net him £2,000,000'. He even left the service halfway through to take a phonecall.

-His youngest daughter and her husband honeymooned out in Thailand and stayed with him and his wife. On the first day it transpired my Uncle had been having multiple affairs. Due to the fallout my Cousin and her husband had to find a hotel to spend the next 2 weeks in. Ruined their honeymoon and as a result neither of them are in contact with him.

His eldest daughter hasn't had any contact with him since she was 18. No idea why or what he did, but she won't let him know where she lives. He doesn't have any contact details for her either. I feel like she has the best deal out of all of our family.

Ah casual racism. I imagine the OP and partner are highly attractive specimines of their race?

BTW, I'm 6ft2, no ginger hair with a far Eastern partner.

What does the OP think of women who have afro-carribean partners? Are they also categorised?
Sadly Matt Lucas and his 'ting tong' sketches have reinforced these stereotypes. In years to come we will look back on his show in the same way we regard Alf garnet and other such 'classics' from the 70s and wonder how we allowed such tripe to be transmitted.

I expect there are quite a few of these brides who are in abusive relationships with western men. Men who full well know that a western woman would not tolerate such abuse and therefore seek out softer targets.

If you meet the right person what does it matter?
Where did matt Lucas and David Walliams get the inspiration for a sketch like that, did they just make it up or was it an observation, am guessing it is the latter, it is perhaps a little near the bone but that was the type of comedy they did (do ?)

I can see how it grates on anyone who is in a relationship with someone from that region, regardless of how you met, but it is a thing, I can think of three couples I know that are where he is from the Uk and she is of East Asian heritage, one definitely wasnt, they met at college in Canada, where she was born, one definitely was as he said so and one we arent sure.

I just think that if it works out and everyone is happy then whats the issue ? it isnt like every entirely UK based relationship works.

Me and the Mrs made a conscious decision many years ago that a big house, expensive clothes and big TV were not something we aspired to. We're happy with a small abode and would rather spend our money going out doing things without having to watch the pennies because the mortgage is more than the national average wage. We're also one of those socially shunned couples who don't want kids through personal choice, nice cost saving there.
