I'm a relatively morally bankrupt person, but even I couldn't be the agent to pair that ginger guy up with someone. Comes across as an absolute fking psycho.

That ginger bloke reminds me of something Steve Coogan would come up with...

At least Steve Coogan characters are just cringy / awkward though. I know that judging someone to be a wife beater without having seen any evidence of it is a bit like judging someone to be a peadophile just because they look a bit dodgy, but if I was that woman I'd be hiding pepper spray in every corner of the house.

When you say 'pepper spray' I take it you mean 'large calibre revolver with soft nosed ammunition'?

I read that as "some sort of sex torpedo" - quite a compliment! biggrin

All I need to do is find a young and attractive Thai girl who doesn't mind living in a one bed flat in Basingstoke rammed to the roof with car related junk and a husband who spends most of his time in car parks being beardy about small Japanese topless cars.
Eeh, living the dream, eh? Just think, keep on working the way you are and maybe you can one day upgrade to, say, a 2 bed semi in Grimsby. Why not dream? The sky's the limit.
Our local wheelie bin cleaner bloke has a thai bride. She spends all day with him on his round in the battered Transit, looking after the paperwork and doing the final dry down after cleaning. Not too dissimilar ages - him mid 40's - her mid 30's - maybe that's why this one seems to work.

An old work colleague lives in Vietnam with his bride. I'd love to post a photo but probably wouldn't be right. You get the idea though, older white guy about 55, his lady around 30.
Anyhow he's telling me that he get's the 'come-on' from young ones once or twice a month and even if his wife is present.
Apparently Western guys have a reputation for looking after a girl, being a 'man' and having a passport to a better country.
Asian guys apparently want a mother figure, have no respect or manners, usually low income and spit a lot (bizarre but this what the girls say).

So if you're down on your luck in the UK, it seems Vietnam, Thailand and Philippines is a sure thing.

PS very popular with older Australian men too.

Part of me wonders what happened with those people - where are they now?

And part of me thinks I'm possibly better off not knowing...

I was doing DJ at a wedding reception a few years back in a dodgy pub. While setting up, the groom comes in, dead on bloke but no oil painting. Standing having a bit of a chat with him and in walks his bride, an absolutely stunning thai girl. he's punching well above his weight.
Asked him where they had met etc. He told me they had met in Thailand, ah right thinks I, mail order job. He called her over to say hello and to my surprise, she speaks perfect English and no hint of an accent.
Turned out she's a doctor, had lived all her life in the UK and they had met while both were on holiday in Thailand.
Got a bit interesting during the best man speech when his dad, very drunk, started making rather obnoxious racist comments and had to be taken out before he got smacked lol.

My uncle was in his 60s and ended up marrying a Thai Girl. He would work in the UK for a few months in some manual job while sleeping on his sons sofa before heading back out to Thailand for a few months until the money ran out. Of course they built a bungalow out there but it had to be in his wife's name as foreigners cannot own property over there.

He ended up sleeping with his wife's sister, we wonder if she came up with the plan to give her an excuse to divorce him.

It nearly always falls to the daughter to provide and care for her ageing parents who will live somewhere in the Thai countryside. We could learn a lot from the Thais about the importance of valuing, respecting and caring for our elderly relatives. However it does mean that with only a basic education and no financial leg-up she is expected to go into the city to find money. The fact is western money goes further over there all in all, which benefits both parties. Most of the expats I spoke to who had Thai wives were quite matter-of-fact about it. They got a young, pretty girl who cleans their place and cooks very well, she had financial stability and could take care of her parents. It's not impossible that this couple could also have a loving relationship to some degree.

Being 25/26 when I lived there I wasn't interested in such an arrangement- but I found the Thai girls of around my age were much more likely to speak great English, have compatible interests and are generally great company.

Depressingly I came away thinking that the single biggest drawback of having a relationship with a Thai girl is the social stigma.

Heavy prejudice for that to be what you'd wonder rather than him pursuing her.
Anyhow it wouldn't be grounds;)
Husband can divorce wife for adultery, the wife cannot, the closest ground for the wife is if the husband has taken another woman as his main wife (essentially giving her more money or face than his legal wife)(adultery and minor 'wives' for him is expected).
