I'm pretty sure the whole concept of 'marriage' is that a woman finds a man to shelter, protect and provide for them, on a base level, while she stays home, spits out a few kids etc and tends the hearth.

Not too sure where it all turned into a totally different arrangement, where women don't want money, don't want a guy to provide for them. That seems to be the western way now, independent wives who don't actually need a husband per se, just a cock to service their needs and a smart suit/tidy appearance to impress the competitors (other wives) at cocktail parties and other socials events.

Indeed there are a few like that. It's by no means universal, it's by no means reserved to one sector of society. I can think of a few examples myself. Some men even welcome it as confirmation of their masculinity and ability to provide.

I think that what's being talked about here though is not settling down to an easy life for the next 30 years, which we would all like, but people setting out to fleece someone and deprive them of their house.

The Thai wife waiting for rich foreign hubby to die is the complete extreme end of the spectrum I think. the opposite end is two people, married for several decades, engrained in habits, each wishing the other would die to give them some peace and quiet.

I know a lot of deluded old men in the uk. They have old wives they dont have sex with, been together years and dont go out for dinner or even talk. They dont find their wives attractive after 50 years together. They are waiting for their partners to die so they can be free.

I know a couple of very smart older uk men. They have a younger thai bride, have sex often, like doing new things and going out with them for drinks. The women have something they want. The men also have something the women want. Who is using who?

Each to their own but thinking your uk born wife loves you for who you are and doesnt care about yours and her annual foreign holidays and so on is also naive.

Some guys on here will be insulting older uk men for having a 'thai bride' but will also be the same people working flat out whilst their british wife stays at home and gets things paid for.
