Her 80th birthday last Sunday got no mention on here.
However, this 60's icon has been In the news today after putting up lots of her old memorabilia and, well, simply raking in almost £3 Million, waaay exceeding all orig estimates.

Shouldn't need a spoiler.

The majority of the value of the sale came from an item not linked to her directly, Claptons album original artwork.

Still can't get over the craziness of being in love with your best mates wife, and writing about it in a song that is one of the best know songs of its genre, to then going on and marrying her when she splits from your mate, and still being mates, oh and your mate is in the fking Beatles. Different time.

She was George Harrison’s wife. Then Eric Clapton had a go.

Both of them are popular beat musicians.

Oh I wouldn't say that at all. It most certainly is linked directly to her as she 'owned' it.

Clapton just 'chose' that for the Layla cover artwork. It was an original painting (she has owned for years) called La Jeune Fille au Bouquet, painted by Emile Theodore Frandsen de Schomberg.
Clapton had seen the painting while writing songs in France. He asked the family on whose wall the painting hung if he could have it - they said yes!
When (George) Harrison and Boyd split up, Eric 'gifted' the painting to Harrison and the painting stayed with him.

Then when Clapton and Boyd split up after infidelities and the usual drug problems, Harrison 'gave' the original painting to Patti (ie in other words, she's 'owned' it since then).

Being a 60s teen myself, it was the 'norm' then to follow all this stuff.
Me, personally, didn't think 'Clapton was God', I was on board with the others in London at the time who all thought this:

edit to add:
someone will be along in a mo to say 'who the fk is Peter Green?' LOL

I have no idea what’s going on, and as the thread etiquette usually means providing a “then and now” pair of pictures or at least a recent one I’m guessing not many others under the age of about 300 have either.

I’m 53 and didn’t have a clue who it was. And how has she aged, as that photo looks about 60 years old?

Peter Green was rather more than just a guitarist. And the intro was given by Alan Price, ex-The Animals.
