(Or the fella, obvs...)

Am struggling a bit, first xmas with the latest Mrs R, and been given some ideas from her sis (she does like her brands!) but nothing hugely inspirational. Not helped by her birthday being early January either....

What's on your shopping list?

Shower cap, ironing board cover, wink

Look at maybe a short weekend away, spa day, gift/make-up/bath stuff/perfume sets. Jewellery (you would probably want her sister with you.)

OR Pink fluffy dice and eyelashes for the car !

In theory nothing as we've agreed no presents this year, bit skint and would far rather spend it on the kids. However she cracked the screen on her mobile and is now using an old LG phone she had before which is very slow and old so I've got her a cheap new phone (Xiaomi) which is currently on the slow boat from China.

A vintage Spong No1 Coffee Grinder, this one in fact:

Also, something along these lines. And possibly the certificate framed. Or something.

At least five presents as usual.
1. Something from my son who isn't going to make it home in time so 'Can you get me something for her please Dad?'
2. Something from my daughter 'Dad, I'm trying to buy this for Mum on line but my card isn't working, can you buy it and I'll pay you back sometime never?'
3. Something she'll buy for herself and take the money out of my wallet for because she knows I won't get it right anyway.
4. Something I'll actually choose and buy myself for her.
5. Something she sees in the boxing day sales which she likes and will buy as a gift from me to her as she's already forgotten that I gave her something wonderful the day before.

I"ll go against the grain and give a sensible answer:
- A photo in a frame of the two of you from somewhere you have been
- Some chocolates but not a large box, just some quality ones
- Something cool for her hobby e.g. if she likes running, some shoe lights
- Something nice for her e.g. a bracelet or similar
- Something funny - An in-joke related to the two of you
- An experience (Mrs just bought me a Ninja warrior experience and I would get her Horse riding in Windsor Great park)

As this is your first year together, you are setting a precedent, so be careful
