We have a theory that c96% of everything in the unverse is made of dark matter and dark energy, for which we have no evidence other than knowing our current calculations don't work.
That may be true for things the size of galaxies, but the current laws of physics work just fine for normal everyday objects at the human scale.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here. our knowledge is incomplete in a number of areas (note that this is different from your statement that "we know the square root of F.A. about everything", which is clearly not the case). In areas where knowledge is incomplete we usually have theories which have been developed which can be used to make observable predictions. When these theories are backed up for observable / measurable / repeatable evidence, they become accepted. If not then we look for a new theory which better describes what we've found and incrementally our knowledge advances. Note the difference between this approach and just saying 'I believe i ghosts'.

To use current knowledge gaps to infer that 'the paranormal' could be true is no better than creationists stating that there are gaps in the fossil record, therefore a creator. Extraordinary claims need backing with extraordinary evidence.
The point I was originally trying to make was back probably around 30 pages ago, regarding life after death and the link between the brain and consciousness.
The point I am making now is that how people refer to science is a wee bit arrogant. You talk of our knowledge being incomplete, yes it is, but you infer that we are nearly there, just missing a few pieces. I would argue we know we know nothing about 96% of everything, and we don't know how much we know about the remaining 4%. Therefore SQRT(F.A.) smile

Just remember there are different levels on the scale of science > supernatural, it's not binary. The example I have given previously around life after death pushes out into what most people think of supernatural, whilst still being scientific. I am talking about what the layman thinks of science and supernatural, and so how it is dealt with. Hence my displeasure in people being condescending about something they know little about and do not actually have the full knowledge to back up
