I like the idea of an obituary thread. Why can't we just leave it like that?
No one is forcing you to participate or even read, Eric. What I DON'T want to read are the nasty minded wish lists - which crop up from time to time.

Zut alors, sacre bleu et merde...Why do all the best ones have to go, while some others just seem to drone on forever?
Thanks chap - it's nice to know one is appreciated.
PH really has a nasty little fetid element about it these days at times.
It's basically done now.
I do feel that expressing a desire for a fellow PHer to peg it in preference to some fairly low key celebrity is a bit off. In all my years on PH I've never seen another PHers make a comment like that - joking or otherwise.
I just thought it was a bit off and a bit unnecessary.

I didn't read it like that tbh Eric, I read it as he would rather you didn't post in this thread/on PH. That's a lot different to what you were thinking.
Well, maybe it was badly worded and open to misinterpretation.
Of course I could chose not to read this thread - but I actually would like to read and contribute to the thread as it is the "semi-official" obituary thread on PH. On that basis, it could be informative and interesting.
On the other hand, it also a bit of a magnet for those who want to post distasteful comments from those who would like to wish death upon people they don't happen to like - which I think is pretty uncalled for and rather demeaning.

Just my usual evening ramblings and warped sense of humour coming into play

I think you're misjudging the intention of the thread somewhat Eric. It's called "First to pop off...............2017" so straight away you can expect the comments to be somewhat mischievous. For full blown Eugoogalizing, I'm sure you'd find individual threads in the news section, for when said person dies.Of course I could chose not to read this thread - but I actually would like to read and contribute to the thread as it is the "semi-official" obituary thread on PH. Even so, can we please make a specific exception for that really nice Mr Blair who seems to feel that we need him......Of course I could chose not to read this thread - but I actually would like to read and contribute to the thread as it is the "semi-official" obituary thread on PH.
