Hi,

Driving to Amsterdam on Friday for a meeting.

Would like to stop off at Dunkirk to pay our respects to the fallen soldiers at the landing beeches, struggling to find an address to head to or a suitable memorial location.

Any help appreciated.

There is a British section in the cemetery at Dunkirk with a memorial, and one on the beach near to the musee Dunkerque http://www.dynamo-dunkerque.com

Possibly just a wording difference, but Dunkirk was an evacuation rather than a landing.

The Landings were at Dieppe (1942) and Normandy (1944).

Not trying to split hairs, just checking you weren't confusing the sites.

Still a fine thing to do!

yes apologies a matter of wording! It's on route so I felt it easy to drop in and take it in. I've done some reading on Operation Dynamo etc and just want to be in the place where it happened

I've walked on the beach at Dunkirk, and all the D Day beaches.Just stand, feel the sand, close your eyes, and try to imagine what happened there all those years ago.You just cant, very emotional place.
My wife`s father was rescued from Dunkirk and never said a word about it,kept the experience all to himself.Mind you I'm very pleased he did make it home in one piece.
