Deposited this in the front room yesterday.
Mrs Marky has yet to see it.

Doesn't count unless you move it into the lounge.

At home, bringing parts in from the garage is pretty much punishable on pain of death....

In my uni room however:

A shattered diff pinion gear from a mate's Land Rover, used as a paperweight.
Some Ki-Gass (fuel priming system) fittings from a Merlin engine

A Merlin/Meteor engine rocker cover

Some new catalytic convertors for the Range Rover

A large variety of aircraft engine gauges for the Meteor project, a smattering of turbine blades from Avon and Ardour engines, and a folder full of photocopies of usually unobtainable engine manuals

A cockpit parts manual for the Sea King project and a makers plaque from a Rolls Royce industrial/marine engine

The Bulkhead trims from my van are behind the sofa. Also have this hanging on the wall, a souvenir I made from when I had a "moment" at the Ring.

I looked at this thread title and thought what a silly thread. Who keeps car parts in their lounge?!

I then remembered I have a 3rd radiator kit for my 997 laid against my sofa. Bugger.

I think Perkins purchase by Caterpillar prompted JCB to start making their own engines.

Not a good idea to be buying your engines from a major competitor!

Paul
Quite probably. But Sir Bamford had spoken about it along time before that happened

Perkins do still have some engine sales to Caterpillar competitors, which is a bit odd.
The story I have heard (I work at JCB) is that Mr JCB wanted to manufacture every part of the machines. It just took a while to make it a reality.
As you point out, buying from Cat (a dirty word :P) isn't a great idea. Similar reasons are why we don't sell engines/gearboxes/axles to competitors.
