What car parts do you have in your lounge?
Discussion
At home, bringing parts in from the garage is pretty much punishable on pain of death....
In my uni room however:
A shattered diff pinion gear from a mate's Land Rover, used as a paperweight.
Some Ki-Gass (fuel priming system) fittings from a Merlin engine
A Merlin/Meteor engine rocker cover
Some new catalytic convertors for the Range Rover
A large variety of aircraft engine gauges for the Meteor project, a smattering of turbine blades from Avon and Ardour engines, and a folder full of photocopies of usually unobtainable engine manuals
A cockpit parts manual for the Sea King project and a makers plaque from a Rolls Royce industrial/marine engine

I think Perkins purchase by Caterpillar prompted JCB to start making their own engines.
Not a good idea to be buying your engines from a major competitor!

Quite probably. But Sir Bamford had spoken about it along time before that happenedNot a good idea to be buying your engines from a major competitor!

Perkins do still have some engine sales to Caterpillar competitors, which is a bit odd.
As you point out, buying from Cat (a dirty word :P) isn't a great idea. Similar reasons are why we don't sell engines/gearboxes/axles to competitors.
