So am I being racist every time I ask for a chicken tikka massala?
Yes but only if you're asking a Scotsman. Leave our National Dish out of this. (and pass me a bit of Haggis Pakora please).
Pretty much the only thing you chappies have actually invented and no one gives you the credit.

I was an active member of Searchlight in the late 80s early 90s, someone who would turn up to literally fight fascism and racism all over the North West of the country. Like The Clash said though, I grew up and I calmed down.
If this is what passes as racism today then I would say we won.
Unfortunately it's not, there is still so much worse going on in this country than the OP's incident.
I agree, yet the professionally offended and hand wringers have been out inforce to support. If this is what passes as racism today then I would say we won.

He seems to have (probably by wealth) cocooned himself in his own safe environment, once he's out of that and in the open he's shocked by some minor event that most would shrug off as he isn't used to it.
1st World problem and MTFU.

WHilst I agree that the OP's incident isn't the end of the world, your point is completely invalid. If this is what passes as racism today then I would say we won.

What if, when you were fighting racism in the 80's/90's some old has-been said to you "FFS, you call that racism? He only called him a n***ger and spat at him. Back in our day we shipped them over in chains and owned them and beat them to death if we felt like him. If we are getting high and mighty over name calling and a bit of spit, then I would say the PC people have definitely won"

If not I will use your tortuously off the mark analogy correctly. Imagine if we were shipping them over in chains, owned them, and beat them to death if we felt like and someone who was neither in chains, owned or beaten was spat at and called a n****r, I might look on that name calling and spitting as reprehensible but not the end of the world.

Looks like the chavs allegedly made an oblique comment about diet TBF.
What race is the OP?
I have never read such bks on any forum anywhere and I don't believe that you are stupid enough to believe that the chavs in question were making curry jibes at the Asian family because they had culinary curiosity. What race is the OP?
Given that you can type, that it self-evident that you aren't quite as thick as you are pretending to be. Which begs the question as to your motivations for trying to argue it is okay to randomly accuse Asians of eating curry like a 3 year old.

Whilst I feel the OP's pain if he perceives that he was racially abused, I do feel that the racism card is overused. If he were Canadian and the chavs made a maple syrup comment, would he feel the same way?
As has been alluded to above, on the "racism continuum" this particular incident, to the average reader, is maybe not as terrible as it seems . Saying that, I'm not the OP, he feels genuinely aggrieved, so that makes a very strong case for the chav behaviour being wrong. I do lean towards this position, but not as much as you, obviously

The OP needs to sit down & think what real racism is, NOT what he thinks it is.
I'm sorry but you're wrong. Racism is very real and in different ways to different people. I'm not talking about the 'iz it coz i iz black' type, but why else would some kids walking down the road say to some brown kids "do you have any curry?" if not for reasons of racial prejudice? Do you think they mistook the house for the local take away?
I once had the misfortune of going to a pub in a really horrid part of Leicester for a sunday lunch with some friends. A group of lads walked past us whilst we were having a roast, muttering comments of "fort ud be avvin a curry". Were they politely suggesting that the establishment was better known for it's tremendous curries and would certainly recommend one over the overcooked roast?
Racism doen't have to be as severe as you may remember it being in order to still be called racism - that's the whole point of progress isn't it? That things that were deemed acceptable back then are no longer acceptable now, ergo the line has moved.
Would you argue that a woman claiming sexual harrassment by being told she has a nice rack etc is being silly because back when you were younger women suffered real sexism, these women now don't know what real sexism is since they've not been repeatedly groped?
Sorry for the long post.
Racism is alive and well

This poor boy got forced into isolation on his first day at school because of his hair, and then told that he has to cut it.
He is a Rastafarian and Just like a Sikh, his hair is a part of his faith.
In the same vein, they would not have told a Sikh boy to cut off his hair and remove his turban,
This country gets more disgusting every day, not just because of the random knuckle dragging racists, but the in built institutional racism that we fight daily in almost every aspect of life.

It's worth taking a step back from this article and applying some logical thinking. http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news/west-london-ne...

Fulham Boys School is a free school built around quite a robust Christian belief. It is also has a board of governors that is all white and English.
This is public information. Everyone in Fulham knows why this free school was set up, who set it up and what they wish to achieve. There is absolutely nothing insidious in this. It is a free school.
A true Rastafarian would not allow their child to attend such an establishment on many grounds. The basic existence of this school is an anathema to their beliefs and their roots. There is not a single element that is remotely compliant to their way of life or beliefs.
The school is so manifestly Babylonian that it is utterly farcical for a Rasta to attend it by their own doctrine. This school would be seen as evil and as an establishment of the devil.
In religious terms dreadlocks hair is symbolic of the intolerance of Western values by espousing the use of scissors and blades as they are the creation of the evil white devil.
And to cap it all, Rastafarianism is a misogynistic, racist, homophobic, dishonest load of offensive tripe that is an anethema to decent human values and certainly has no place being tolerate let alone respected.
So, in short, if this lady and her child were really Rastas then they wouldn't dream of stepping foot in the type of establishment this school is. She just doesn't want her kid to look uncool and is referencing what happened in the 50s in Jamaica where the teaching establishment forcibly cut children's hair.
The solution is for her to move her child to one of the many schools which meet Rastafarian religious criteria of not teaching Christianity, not being run by whites, not having women in roles of authority, not tolerating any LGBT rights and worshiping a great man who is believed to still be alive or to have ascended to heaven but in fact was murdered and buried under a toilet by a bunch of loons.

Is how to wear your hair actually part of the Rastafarian doctrine?http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news/west-london-ne...

I knew devout Sikhs who had short hair, did not walk about with clothes more suited to warmer climes, yet were still Sikh
Surely it is what is inside a person than external appearances?
Muslims wearing Arab Clothing in Camberley doesnt make them any more muslin that in they wore a three piece suit and shaved
Jewish people in Golders Green and elsewhere are no less Jewish should they go without those ill fitting hats and long black coats
and to the other extreme wearing white robes with a pointy hood make you no more racist than a going about in a Dinner jacket
