This is some of mine. Posted in the pen thread originally to show how different nibs write. Since I have started using fountain pens and making an effort, I have noticed a definite improvement.

That stub nib seems to really work for you, could it be that it even straightens up your letters a little?

I think that this thread and the pen thread have made all the posters think about how they write and we are all seeing some improvement, especially me.

The stub certainly makes you think harder about what you are doing. It's a bit thick for making notes so I haven't been using it much.

Mine has always been terrible too but now being 70+ there's not much point in doing anything about it. My wife saya it's because when I was very young I could write (badly) with either hand and being cohersed into using just my right hand in my early school years it's never really sorted itself out. I still hold my knife, fork, spoon etc. as a left hander, as did my mother and so does my youngest daughter, I think it must be a dodgy gene!!

Many years ago I bought some specialist pens and a book on caligraphy which did help but when I stopped practising it all went back to "my" normal.

As you say, its all about practice and concentration. A friend of mine had handwriting that nobody could read, not even herself and the penny dropped when she realised - why am I writing things down that cannot be read. She bought a lined notebook, numbered the pages 1-31 and was determined that by day 31 she would have have superb writing, and she succeeded. People now comment on how beautiful she writes.

She has observed that some people may associate lower intelligence with bad handwriting, certainly she has noticed that people link a good education with the ability to write so well. She is in construction project management with up to six meetings each day needing constant note taking, as she says, in the male dominated world of construction she needs every advantage going.

My handwriting has always been awful (certainly a lot worse than most posted here), having spent years using computers for anything that might be read by other people certainly hasn't helped.
Greetings cards its are all done by my wife.

I tried going to block capitals, that gradually ended up being a kind of high speed capitalised scrawl.
I might get a fountain pen again, I tried it in school and just had the same crap but smudged.

Exactly the same here. It doesn't matter how slowly I write it just finishes up an utter mess!

I would provide a written example but way too embarrassed to do so!

Another IT worker with shocking hand writing here. I also find I forget how to form letters when I write. I actually have to stop and think about the next letter before I carry on and write it.

My spelling is not too bad, but years of typing and spell checking has really taken its toll.

As with others, my wife does all the writing I can get away with getting her to do. Its hard teaching the kids how to write, and spell, when you're so crap at it yourself.

Don't forget to cross your 't's. Middle picture, main paragraph, fifth line, penultimate word.

Unless you are writing a will, of course. If that's the case, can I have your pens? wink

Over on the fountain pen thread I already commented that I accidently missed the 't' in 'with' laugh

If I could get to the level of the first picture I'd be overjoyed.
My handwriting is bad enough that I sometimes struggle to read it myself.

Same here biggrin To be honest though I'd prefer to be able to do a neater version of Prohibiting's first example than his second, the second one looks nice but I find harder to read than the first example.

There's a guy where I'm working at the moment who's hand writing looks beautiful but it takes me ages to read it biggrin
