I've never managed to secure any of the limited release ones and I refuse to pay 3/4/5 X the price from a re seller.

I use the Adidas confirmed app, but even when hitting the button within milliseconds of them going live, I still miss out.

My best ones are the bargains in the TJ Maxx (or Nordstrom Rack in my case) stores. What some people see as a wacky color scheme I tend to really love!

I used to be into my Air Max and still have a couple of pairs left over which I refused to sell but now I'm getting rid as I don't really wear them anymore...

The 95s are from 95 and are now in the bin because the midsoles perished
The 87s are from 03 and I wear them for knocking about in
The 90s are from 03 (Australia only release I'm led to believe) and I'm planning on refurbing them soon
The BWs are from 03 too and the midsoles are perished so they're going on eBay

I'm more in to my Adidas now and alongside my all white leather Gazelles I've recently refurbished these, the above being the 'before' and the latter being the 'after'.

This is winning imo!

I love trainers, I would say that they are the single best type of shoes for men, they come in so many different styles and colours, meaning that everyone should be able to find something they like.

They are also super comfortable, and practical (I have end stage arthritis in my ankles, as much as I do like traditional shoes, anything with a block heel, is no good for me = crippling to wear).

I do think there are extreme cases, Arsenalmorris bless him, may be a case in point. But you've gotta spend your hard earned somewhere, and in that respect, it's a fairly harmless hobby isn't it (apart from the space they take up!)

Question for you guys with large collections, where do you keep them all? smile

^ I keep mine in a wardrobe and some in the loft. The loft move was to accomaodate more biking kit.

A few years back I had just over 100 but I sold a load on the bay of despair, some for peanuts, some for £££s. Last year I gave 12 or so pairs to my local homeless shelter and at some point, if I can be bothered, i'll be selling some, I've just over 60 pairs a the moment, 50 pairs of "good" ones that I wear out and about and the rest for sport or gardening or general slumming it.

Predominantly adidas and Nike with a few Puma Clydes/Suedes, 2 NBs and 2 Saucony thrown in.

My favoruites are Nike Air Max 87s, as I vividly remember seeing my first ever pair and my mind being blown by the fact you could see right through the midsole.

One of my best results was picking up a pair of 87 HOAs in TK Maxx for £40, wearing them a few months then selling them to a lad in Oz for £90.

Keep mine all over the house, under the bed, in wardrobes, side of wardrobe in boxes. I never used to keep the boxes though and even 'limited edition' pairs would get worn. Though as I'm a little older I do try and keep the nicer ones, erm, nice and look at the forecast before deciding which to wear

The guy I do the videos with keeps a lot on a shelf in his annexe, hence why we film the videos there and the channel is called 'The Annexe'... He's got about 300+ pairs (mental)

I collect model cars (to my wife's despair). For collectors, the box and its condition is important for the value of the model. Is the same applicable in the trainer collecting world?

I guess for some it will be, but it doesn't bother me a whole load. Just like people who collect model cars, some will collect and never get them out of a box, whereas others will have them on a display in a cabinet and maybe even disregard the boxes.

I never classed myself as a 'collector', I loved just wearing them. I had a few years off while having kids as the cost of maternity and childcare is ridiculous, but now they're older I'm getting back into it and feel a bit more precious about them. Also doesn't help when you're friend keeps them all pristine in boxes, it kind of rubs off a little

I have boxes dotted all around the house but mostly in a spare room cupboard. Only problem with this game in the UK is the bloody weather. Can't wear anything with suede/fur/light cloth in the winter!

This works just as well, and about £2.30 from Sainsburys. I use it on all of my shoes and it even works on suede, much to the amazement of anyone I show!

Sweet, will take a look. Is it good for all material do you know? Though for £2.30 it would be a no brainer to not try it out on some of my 'lesser' kicks before applying it to the nice ones

It works on everything. I use it on my Pretty Green suede shoes and the water just beads off like when you've just polished your car.

I'm convinced that it's the same thing in all of these cans and you just pay for the hype, as the chemicals in them are all identical.

I feel the same, I buy them to wear, rather than look at / collect. I've not gone for some super expensive ones because i'm not sure I could bring myself to wear them. But then that defeats the point for me.

I also generally chuck the boxes as well.

I recently bought a pair of those blue SPZL 350 on the right, and it's threatening to reawaken my trainer problem. I can't stop looking at Adidas trainers now!

I like the 350s but I'm worried they're going to go a bit chavvy/hipster like Hamburg's as they're readily available now.

I found some £20 Los Angeles in the sales and they're extremely comfortable and go great with Edwin's and Armani's.

Nor do I mate, but the enjoyment of collecting isn't in buying everything. Curating is as much a part of it too, which is why I'm selective about what I tend to buy. For what it's worth I really like those petrol coloured Spezials you showed.

Finally, a positive of life in Northern Ireland! The Gazelle OG is still one of the more common shapes here alongside the Hamburg but they're still not super common. Not many people here take notice of Adidas trainers from what I've seen, though I did get a nod from a guy in Forest Hills once with a pair of Milano on - so there must be a few of us out there.
