I have recently had a Sheepskin fur coat made. I love it! It feels luxurious and I can wear it on nights out and to rugby matches with just trousers, jeans and a long sleeved shirt or t- shirt.

What are your thoughts on fur! I would not wear, any other fur. I feel that sheep are being killed for meat anyway therefore it is ok to wear a ship skin coat. In the same way I wear leather shoes and have leather handbags but would not have alligator or snake skin.

I don't but only because I don't particulalry like it and it doesn't fit my manly look!

TBH I don't really think of the ethical side though as fur as a clothing product isn't on my wave length.

My daughter wears it though, she has a rabbit fur coat that she got mega cheap as the lady who sold it to her decided to become a vegan and wanted it gone asap, it was £850 new and she paid less than £50, she also has various hats made of various animal furs.

She works for a fashion brand; high end bags mainly, she has loads of leather items; bags, wallets, purses etc all made from crocodile skin, snake skin, calf leather, emu etc. The prices are astronomical but she gets them either free or at a vastly reduced rate. Apparently it is all ethically produced and farmed but I don't know if that is true or not.

She loves labels and all that sort of stuff and doesn't care what people think, sometimes it is a bit difficult when she is around her sister in law as she is a vegan and also used to work for PETA.

The first Mrs B. used to wear a genuine racoon skin hat, with tail, whenever we took our daughter to visit London zoo.

She was a wrong 'un, the first Mrs B.

My Grandmother had a fox fur with the head and tail, but I wouldn't wear fur except for all the fur my cat leaves everywhere around the house (I should collect that and make a coat smile )

I don't think I have any but I wouldn't have an issue with wearing it (Your Sheepskin coat sounds nice, coming from a Welshman wink )
Personally I have no issue with animals being killed for use in various purposes as long as the death is quick and they haven't been mistreated before, no doubt that opinion will horrify some but we all have different tolerances.

I have a sheepskin flying jacket for driving the toy in winter. Nothing modern I've tried matches the performance I require like a sheepskin. It's incredibly warm, but regulates your heat, you never really get too hot like some coats, it's breathable, and wind proof. Most modern coats I've tried flap about in the wind and you always get cold eventually.

I also have a (I think) goatskin deerstalker style hat, again, absolutely nothing I've tried even comes close to the warmth, sound muffling and wind resistance...

That said, most people wouldn't be driving around in a noisy car with no roof, Windscreen and not much to call sides on a cold wintery day...

To over simplify it I'll wear any animal you can eat.

I know pretty much any animal can be eaten but in a modern, developed first world country the hide/fur should be a secondry consideration when slaughtering an animal.

It's interesting that people make such a fuss about fur but there isn't the same militant campaigning against leather.

I have a rabbit-fur hat, and a sealskin sporran. My head is certainly warm, and I'm sure the sealskin sporran insulates my nether regions when I'm in the kilt.

I have no ethical qualms about wearing them.

Do you actually manage to wear it in the UK? I looked at them but them seemed too warm for anywhere less than Artic Circle or above.

Funny old world, some High St shops have been exposed selling real fur labelled as faux fur.

Got a rabbit fur hat, came from Estonia. Wearing fur when it's -20 and worse it's a bit more normal.

Very lucky girl. My daughter has a Moncler coat which has a little bit of Canada goose I think and she has just been measured for a sheep skin gilet. Rabbit fur for £50 is amazing my kid would love that! I would to be fair but I have to have that sort of thing made for a perfect fit.

I wish I could say the same about our relationship.
