On the way home last night I stopped by Tesco for a book of second class stamps. This morning went to use one and discovered there was already one missing. Not a big problem as I only need 1 for now, but it's the principle - would you bother to go back and complain?

(Paid cash and didn't get a receipt, and it would be a 5 minute detour on my way home tonight)

All serious, amusing or sarcastic thoughts and opinions welcomed smile

I wouldn't bother calling in - a strongly worded letter (2nd class) should do the trick!

Send them a letter but don't put a stamp on it. That'll learn 'em.

Usually when I buy stamps, the cashier will open the book to check they are a full pack. An error here on the part of the cashier, which has seen you out of 50p or so.

Its slightly less annoying than when a vending machine doesn't give you the product or the right change.

I suppose it's the other side of this post.

Guy pays in some money to bank, bank checks and gives receipt, later bank reckons money was short, now chasing OP for "missing" cash.

I wonder how your shop will react? Just take your word for it?

Possibly. I once bought a PC card of some forgotten type from the clearance table at my local PC World, with a load of stickers and price reductions all over it. When I got it home and opened the box, there was no card in it. Took it back, explained the issue, got a refund without any of the problems I was expecting. More than 50p-worth though.

Even if OP isn't expecting a refund or replacement, it might point them to a larger problem that they might be happy to learn about.

Write to your MP....He'll sort

See your solicitor about claiming compensation for the trauma it has caused you and your family

The Daily Mail and the Express will run it as a cover story I suspect....just contact them

Make a mental note to check next time you purchase anything.....
