I have until Mid April to sort some st out and I have no idea where to start so what better place than PH.
I am fully expecting loads of ridiculous suggestions in the hope that someone might say something good but yeah..any ideas?
Going abroad out of the question too as we have a child who will be 5months old.

Do you have someone who could look after your child for a weekend?

Was gong to suggest a good seeing to and a pram, but then saw the end of your post.

Why not ask her?

Surprises are nice, but sometimes getting what you really want is much better.

How about a surprise house party? I did this for my wife and it went down like a storm.

Book her an appointment at the fur factory to get measured for a fur. It is such a treat at half the retail price. They make pieces for Vivienne Westwood, so they are not bad at all. Take her now and it will be finished for her birthday, buy a lovely box to present it in. You could get them to put her name in it - "made for...."

Diamonds. Women love diamonds. A diamond necklace and/or some earrings?

A surprise party would also be good if you can manage that, don't be afraid to ask her best friend/mum/sister to help out with planning it and keeping it all quiet.

Yes but right now the little one has gone off the bottle so don't really want to put it upon someone else to struggle.

I have thought about a party and of course diamonds...No idea where to start with a party mind you.

A 5mth old is no barrier to travel, we've taken our daughter (now 2.5yrs) all over the world (mostly longhaul) with us from being 8weeks old without issue ... I'd personally look at maybe Iceland or Norway as something a little different for her bday ... we always go to vegas for my wife's birthday week and for her 30th I arranged for a 6 of our friends to be there as well to surprise her which went down great smile

Palm off little 'un for a Saturday night. Book train tickets to London, book nice hotel, restaurant somewhere that you wouldn't normally spend out for, out for a show in the West End, back to the hotel, make another baby, go home next day. Job Jobbed.

Alternatively, book a spa weekend/day/night for her and a friend at a posh place. You look after kiddie for the day and overnight and she and her friend get to spend 12 hours moaning about men whilst getting their hair painted and nails sanded or whatever they do there.

With a 5 month old child I imagine a decent night sleep would be the best thing you could ever give her! Take the child off her hands for the day let her go out with friends and an early night?

Your child is 5 months old so no reason why you can't go away for weekend if someone can look after her/him.

My wife and I went for a weekend away when our youngest was 6 weeks old :-)

Sort out a city break to Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, Brussels, Stockholm etc..
All with less than 2 hour flight time and if you time the flights you will have almost 2 full days there.

If you know what type of jewellery she likes buy a nice individual piece.
Doesn't have to be expensive just unique.
May be not local to you but search for Jewellery makers in Sheffield.

She's getting on a bit and probably doesn't want to be reminded as to how old she is. I'd just let it pass by with little or no fuss. It's for the best winklaugh

She's 30, it's not like it's you diamond anniversary. Get her a card, tickets to the cinema, a table at the restaurant of her choice (KFC, Mcds or if you're really flush TGIs) go home and root her madly.

People expect too much too young these days.

Same problem here, but I've only got 2 weeks to sort a present and we'll be in Cape Verde on her birthday.

She wants a engagement ring, sadly (for her) I want a new car scratchchin

Depends on your budget really. Trips to Norway/Vegas/Iceland are great suggestions if you are minted.

If your budget is a little more limited then how about paying for her to have a spa day with a friend of hers, then take her out for a meal in restaurant of choice.

Already has one. It cost me £1200 with the matching purse.
I still have nightmares to this day.

Went to Norway last year but with the baby I don't fancy travelling abroad because he's very fussy and it'd be hassle.

City break abroad, Paris is probably easiest. I told my (now) wife we were going to London for a long weekend so she packed appropriately, spent the first night in London and then got on the Eurostar. She wanted to plan the whole weekend out so I told her to wait and see what I had planned for the first morning before deciding what else to do.

If you think it's difficult with a 5 month old it's going to be many years before it gets any easier. We're expecting twins after our first. Go now while you still can!
