Hi all,

Would anyone please have a contact for some Michelin used good slicks.

My sizes are a bit different.

I would be looking for some Medium 21-65/18 Front and 24-65/18 back.

Runing at moment on 235/645/18 DH and 265/645/18 DH Pirelli but very hard for sprint races and my very stiff car.

Thank you.

Eduardo.

There have been quite a few 18" Michelin slicks on Race Cars Direct recently, so you could take a look on there.

Like the poster above I used 13" Michelin slicks and I get these from a pro team. If you want to pursue that route, just find out what championship uses the tyre size you're after and then ring round those teams and ask - that's what I did and I struck gold with a place an hour from my house that sold superb tyres really cheaply (13" only).

The best thing to do is find out which series/ cars use the same tyres that you require, look at their series calendar and attend those meetings and/ or test days. Make contact with one of the team members and ask them it's possible to have some used tyres off them. At the end of the day you may find they will be happy to let you have a set or two for the price of a few pints.

At least you will know that they are relatively recent tyres rathe than ones that have been sitting around the workshop for months.

It's what I used to do when I raced a single seater, and that's the way I got F3 tyres and before that F Ford tyres.

Thanks Andy,

My problem is the tyres are for a Megane V6 Trophy, and the sizes are not as popular as they don't run those series anymore, and the cars that are left all run in Europe.

I could get them new but will see if anything comes up.

Thanks.

Eduardo.

You could contact a team in mainland Europe in that case? Before I found my local source of tyres I was in the middle of arranging for a Polish team to courier over secondhand tyres - it was still massively cheaper than buying new.

No problem. I've just found the e-mails and from Poland this team were quoting me 250 Euros to ship 6 sets of 13"/20/54 and 13"/24/57 slicks to the UK.
