I've been contemplating a Maserati for some time, and am now thinking of shaking up my current garage of a Citroen C6 and a modified MX5 for an EV for daily commuting duties and a Maserati for weekends and occasional longer trips.

However, several of my longer trips are to the Alps for skiing and I can't find any info on what the options might be for carrying skis on any Maserati from the 3200 to present day.

It appears the current Ghibli offers a split rear seat, but that's about all I can find.

Do Any of the recent Maseratis offer a 'ski hatch' in the rear seat or are there any compatible roof-racks available? I know the mere idea of a roof-rack on a Maserati would set off some folk, but considering my usage, it's a genuine consideration.

Been there.

If you click through, there are no products available, just generic ones. It's a method they use to increase traffic to their site.

Magnetic rack is the answer, unless you plan to leave skis on car overnight

I had a magnetic rack that I used for short trips on my Alfa a few years ago

It warned about speeds over 60mph, so I'm unsure about using them on longer trips at inter-continental motorway speeds, or have they improved since then?

I would frequently do over 100mph with one, on a 205 Gti in 1986! Skis were narrower then though, so less drag ;-)

Quick Google and this one says 130km/80mph, and there's going to be a fair tolerance above that i would think.

That's looking like the only practical solution short of dropping part of the rear seat in the current Ghibli.
I like that I can just pop the skis through the hatch on the C6. Shame the same feature doesn't appear on the QP or Ghibli.

The 3200/4200/GS all have a vertical fuel tank behind the rear seats, so there's no way you could have a ski-hole. I think the QPs and GTs are the same.

A roof rack might be a better option?

And so the circle is complete.
I'm not aware of any roof racks that fit any of the more recent Maserati. The only option seems to be a magnetic mount.

You regularly see cars with magnetic ski racks doing 130kmh plus on the French or German motorways during the season, just take the bindings off if you're concerned about drag

The width of the ski is a bigger consideration than the binding when it comes to drag. That and they rely on the bindings to help stop the skis sliding out the rack.

But it seems, as you say, that magnetic racks are the way forward. They've obviously just come on a long way since I bought mine.

I normally take 3 pairs of my own, but have been known to take 6 or 7 pairs when I'm testing kit for reviews so it's not as simple as hiring when I'm out there.
