Any Porsche related norms that you don't agree with. By that, I intent on bringing out a positive shine on things where perhaps conventional wisdom may frown or worse. For instance fitting 17's to a Cayster is wrong surely but have you tried wink
Over to you.

What hate? More pics please?

Looks like a 'Magnus Walkered' 996.1.

not into modifying cars, but I know a very large number of 911 and Cayman owners and i would say that at least 25% of them have been modified in some way, sometimes a great deal. For some reason the #1 mod i see is replacement exhausts.

I really was meaning the fried eggs not the Noddy paint scheme wink but as you ask, this little lot should give a little idea about what lurks beneath this 1086kg divorce inducer smile

Thank you my Lord wink This made me laugh hehe
It's a bit late in the day now for me to be worrying about some of the crazier ideas I've had with this project. I mean; there is hardly a single part of the car that hasn't been molested, so a little controversial underwear is neither here nor there at this stage wink

I like it apart from the Orange roof rails. It does need some black Porsche side stripes.

It will look better than the 'Walkered' 997 GT2!

Oh and all 996 headlight grow on you.

I love what you've done, and have you seriously got the weight down to 1086Kg..? Where did the weight reduction come from..?

What have you done to the engine..? I'm guessing with that amount of weight reduction, you don't really need to add much power..?

I've been toying with the idea of doing the same myself with a pre runny egg 996 C2, you've encouraged me to go and hunt down a donor car....

Everything else to one side (to be clear - I'm a fan of the car as a whole) I think that the bumper being a contrasting colour really highlights how the lights were designed to emphasise the panel lines - the indicator part of the lighting unit makes more sense when amber as then the arc which the colour defines follows the line of the bumper/bonnet divide.

Not sure how amber would look against the red, but I'd be tempted to put some units in just to see how it looked.

Quoted weight is dry weight. Including fluids 1120kg is closer to the mark. My car started life at 1377.9kg. So far I have removed 248.1kg with another 8kg or so still to come. Car still retains carpet, trim panels and 4 seats, so if I really wanted to, I could get the car to around 1050kg. Most aspects of the project are laid bare here
I'd grab a cuppa if you plan on reading this though wink

I love your fastidious attention to detail re weight loss. I used to build rallycars and competed in the WRC, and we were equally fastidious regarding unnecessary weight during the build, and would always aim to get the car weight down to the minimum permitted - requires hard work and attention to detail...

A few have mentioned a certain M. Walker in this thread. At 02:00hrs this morning I watched his Urban Outlaw video and the thing that really stuck out to me was when he mentioned he is unable to sleep. Whether it be due to a seized bolt he is struggling with or how to cut some louvres. This really struck a chord. At the moment I am getting roughly 4 hours sleep a day. The last 2 weeks have been crazy but I am getting so close now. On Saturday I didn't eat all day, but when you are so engrossed, you seem to just not notice these things that a normal person should be doing. And going back to Magnus, when I sleep it is never really truly sleeping, I'll sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with that eureka realisation of how to overcome a particular issue I have been struggling with that day; I then have to get up, get the drawing board out or write some notes, to remember for the following morning.
So yes a rather long winded answer to your question, very busy but I'm hoping by the end of this week to have the car mobile again. I can then finally get it set-up/geo'd and see what I have created. Just awaiting some parts I had to redesign to arrive so that I can build up the lower wishbone assembly. Excited to say the least wink

Sorry IREvans, I didn't answer the second part to your question. Power was never an area I feel the car was lacking, although I am aiming to get somewhere in the 330-340bhp region. More importantly though, I want a very reliable unit with a winning sound track. So around 50kg has been removed from the engine and all the engine driven ancillaries are no more. Much less parasitic drag, less heat soak, better air circulation/cooling, less weight, imporved weight distribution and CofG lowered. Also much more rev-happy with the LWFW... In terms of power though, I have re-bored the throttle, fitted a bespoke Inconel/carbon exhaust with 200cell cats and a few other bits and pieces. I will also be trialling a new inlet filter system when I have the car re-mapped by VGS-Motorsport but currently a BMC panel filter fitted.
I am looking at a 307BHP/Ton final PTWR when finished, which is just a little above a 997.2GT3 to give a little perspective.

Great to hear of your WRC background, doing a similar thing will be very rewarding for you I'm sure, even if it is bloody hard work smile

I'd be interested to hear your take on the Cup 2s, I've just bitten the bullet and bought some for DN17. New dampers and subframe reinforcement are being done now while I'm at work in Belgium.

Tis about time you finished this, hope it's what you want - not quite as mental as your old S13 though eh? wink

Still don't like the headlights... vomit

You poor thing Davey, it is pretty lengthy by now that thread. How long did it take to read? Finally got the car somewhere close to assembled tonight, wheels included smile

It sounds like your car is coming along nicely Jim. When is the DN event? If I have time, I'll try and get over to see you wink
As soon as I have finished the build I'll let you know how it goes with the CUP2's.
