Why have you mounted the oil cooler on the front grill? no room behind the bumper?

And reaper? surely gerbil or fluffy bunny is more fitting, this is the 'Reaper'

Car looks great( you know the fact it is covered by a cloth in a garage but besides you forgetting to put the oil cooler behind the bumper you really have hit the spot)

This either has something epic under the bonnet necessitating such an unusual mod or, the car's just sneezed and accidentally prolapsed its oil-cooler out of its nose. laugh

At least the knock off AN fittings will be easy to change when they inevitably break.

You weren't kidding about the gold were you!

As an interesting aside, the effort gone to to heat wrap everything presumably to help keep the engine bay cooler from the exhaust heat and enjoy the better gas flow of maintaining high exhaust gas temperatures, not to mention keeping the intake air cool by heat wrapping the intake manifold, you may have been better off keeping the factory air box, as that will have been designed to avoid drawing in hot air from the engine bay.

Putting a big fluffy cone in there, whilst increasing the noise, means it's only got nice warm engine bay air to suck in.

Alternatives, as I'm sure the stock air filter just doesn't flow enough CFM to keep up with the demands of the new cams, would be to in some way box up that air filter to shield it from the engine bay, and create a feed of cold air to it. Inspiration can be obtained from the factory airbox.

Also, I hope ramair is just the brand name of said filter, and not an attempt to describe part of its functionality?

Having the oil cooler there is just asking for trouble, either damaged by debris, and by the time you notice its too late for the engine, or the police will pull you for it, it needs to go behind the grille along with the pipes.

As for what you can do with the engine, as its similar to the 306 GTI's engine (a slightly more modern version to meet emission standards), you can do either turbo charging or supercharging, you are probably best asking on pscuk and asking them smile

Are you sure about that? I don't think the XU10 and the EW10 are that similar, they are different engine families.

there was a c70 on ebay the same, passed MOT. i don't see the appeal but i guess some modders like the look. TBH it does seem overkill on a NA engine.

Could be... And that thing didnt have an oil cooler hanging off its front bumper.

I also suspect OP bought it pre-modded, i cant imagine he had all those engine/driveline mods done then needs to ask what can be done to the engine/injectors.

As with a lot a stupid fashions these days it started with the Japanese drift scene, where practicality trumps aesthetics or reliability. If the car spends most of its time sideways at high revs then flow over the cooler isn't great, answer? Move it to the front bumper for more air.
