West berks had a lot of rain last night. Started at 7 or so, and went on for ages. On the plus side, no need to water the garden.
That's the same band of rain that caused carnage on the M5.

Currently on the M20, heading to France. Hopeful dig s for the SE of UK for next weekend. Not sure if I'll be able to update again. Our cottage doesn't have internet or mobile data (bliss).

27 degrees but a stiff wind in Sarthe, France. Been to the inland lake for some swimming and kayaking. Tonight off to the village fête for some serious local food, wine and cider tongue out

We've had a very comfortable 24-25 for a few days here in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir. 29 forecast today which is a few degrees too warm.

Nevermind, off to the lake and beach to cool down.

Improvements look like they're on the way for UK weather. But, we're not talking about warm hot stable summer weather. Just more average than the wet conditions you've been enjoying (my rain alarm app is still set to home wink )

Nice and sunny in France today. Waiting to board the eurotunnel and had a great view of the clouds over Kent.

Eurotunnel organisation an utter shambles.

Hearing this Lucifer Heatwave in Europe might head this way within 2 weeks?
Errrr - no.

It's heading East in the Med. Italy about to drop from low 40s to low 30s. Greece stays hot.

Is that the end of Summer then Pugs?
I can't offer any hope at the moment...

I suspect something will restart early September, when the kids are back at school. Purely because this torrid weather started when they broke up, as usual. No science involved.

What do you think it's going to do in North Yorks this weekend Mr Puggit?
OH and I are headed up there for a couple of relaxing days and she wants to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower at night. Looking like cloudy, but not much rain maybe?
Tonight is a good night wink

Some improved (but cool) weather over the weekend. Sat night looking good at the moment for lack of cloud. Most places should have breaks in the cloud if not no cloud at all.

Puggit, would you mind looking into your crystal ball and seeing what the weathers likely to be like in the Northern Belgium, Dutch and South Western German for the last two weeks of August please.

I've been looking at long range forecasts, probably a waste of time, but they all seem to use different models. I've seen results from copious amounts of rain, to low 30's Celsius.
There is no real end in sight to the Atlantic currently. So it just depends how far south east the effects are reaching. Waning and waxing, unlikely to be a real scorcher.

1) There is hope - 2 models (GEM and ECM) are showing potential for high pressure and warmer weather next week (Monday 21st ish). This is too far to be certain, and might not happen.

2) Plenty of rubbish weather to see us through until then.

Things are beginning to shape up for improvement next week, plus tropical storm Gert is looking to enter the jet stream and make it wobbly, allowing us to rid ourselves of this pain!

No promises, just good potential.

Puggit, do you think that heat will stick around in London the weekend of the 26th?
It's a bank holiday weekend, fool!

Good odds at this point - but too far to be certain, especially as hurricane season is cranking up

(Gert is a good thing, it should drag warm air north...)
