Just had some good thunder and lightning in Bishop's Stortford out of the blue. Persisting down now.

I've been watching the light show 40-50 miles away from here in Maidenhead.

When I checked on Blitzorgtung I was amazed at how far away it was.

Indeed, appeared from nowhere, stayed around for ages, we sat and watched it with a beer - some impressive lightning.

Pissed off though - car got valeted yesterday afternoon, probably not looking so clean this morning! And don't get me started on what the road up to Stortford is going to be like....

Is Netweather still one of the more reliable sites?

Showing a lot of rain in Dorset on Sat (perfect festival weather frown )

This time last year it hit 34.4oC. Nothing of summery note detectable in the future.

Holy thread resurrection!

For those of us lucky enough to live in the SE - dust down your BBQs, wash your outdoor furniture. There is a high chance of a warm weekend - we could well get in to the low 20s. It will be brief, but it will be pleasant!

Should be better! But you're right, we went to Thorpe Park yesterday and the weather was just perfect for a trip to a theme park.

Pleasantly mild, and I suspect cloudy. Any 20+ heat will be further east.

Still my most memorable event of 2017, the Great July lightning storm of the 18th/19th.

Normally you have to wait a few mins for the next flash. As someone said, so much lightning and so often you could read a book by it.

My video of 12mins of an hours worth, and the camera only showed the bright flashes.

A lot of people missed it due to the time it passed over some regions though.
