I saw weather maps for 1pm and 4pm and both had lightning symbols on them.

Thames Valley area for 1pm ,anybody get some ?

Moved east and south to maybe SE London and Kent for the latter .

Unexpectedly warm on Tues and maybe Weds as ex-hurricane Gert remains drag warm air northwards. High 20s possible in SE. Lots of cloud too though.

UK Metoffice chart for Bank Holiday Sunday:

Disclaimer - it could still all go wrong, plenty of complicated variables in the mix - although unlikely...

Sorry Puggit what does the chart mean? For the south east?

My engagement party depends on your wisdom!
As things look now, good weather. The detail is not yet decided, so we can't rule out drizzle or a cool wind (depending on positioning of the high) - but the chances of an autumnal washout are currently low. thumbup

I'll do a daily update as we approach the w/e.

Signs are generally positive, but there's an awful lot of ifs and buts. The b/h weekend now looks less optimistic than yesterday - should be dry in the south, but the north could see spells of rain. Very average - which is better than most of August.

No such action in West berks. Big drops of rain heading up the A34 where it meets the A303, though.
A few flashes were witnessed by us in West Berks - lightning maps suggested they were near Alton!

Sc0tt - BH weather looks to be very much governed by location.

If you're in the SE - looks to be pleasant and low 20s. Northern areas (north of M62 potentially) could get pretty wet and cooler.

Anything South or East of Manchester, should be acceptable weather, Devon/Cornwall too.

BH Monday - if you're in the South, it's a beach day party

It was the hottest August Bank Holiday ever recorded in Reading - at a mere 26.2. Sums up our weather!

Looking forward, the weather looks decidedly boring. Nothing of note.

This time last year it hit 34.4oC. Nothing of summery note detectable in the future.

Holy thread resurrection!

For those of us lucky enough to live in the SE - dust down your BBQs, wash your outdoor furniture. There is a high chance of a warm weekend - we could well get in to the low 20s. It will be brief, but it will be pleasant!

Another like the one just gone, 9th / 10th Oct, it was lovely.
Should be better! But you're right, we went to Thorpe Park yesterday and the weather was just perfect for a trip to a theme park.

What about south west truck racing down pembrey this weekend hopefully its dry and warm.
Pleasantly mild, and I suspect cloudy. Any 20+ heat will be further east.
