Was all kicking off on Nextdoor the other day. Someone posted a picture of a delivery wagon parked blocking a kerb, which is what I thought the post was about. But no, the poster was angry because of the 'illegal' number plate. I couldn't work out what was illegal about it, and nor could someone else who asked in the comments. Apparently all HGVs and wagons need to have a square number plate, and this one was a standard car shaped one.

Lots of fuss in the comments how someone should do a check as if the number plate is illegal then the wagon probably won't be taxed, MOTd or insured. Slight disappointment when a local hero did a check and it came back both taxed, insured AND MOTd, but lots more fuss when they realised it was only registered as 'VOLVO..' without the actual model name and the MOT history didn't list the mileage, so it must be dodgy again.

A couple of people did point out that wagons can have standard number plates and they don't have to be square, but these claims were quickly shot down by the original poster because he 'drove wagons and they all had square plates'.

Ironically not one person commented on the bad parking!
Bet they spelt it as 'curb' as well biggrin

This popped up on one of my locals with some of the replies not having a problem with it, even saying things like..."maybe it's the only way she can get them to school"
I walked to school in all weathers, a journey that took approx 40mins

Well at least she wasn't on the pavement.

In Italy it would be done with a certain panache. In the UK it'll be a fat woman dressed in Sports Direct bright pink leggings or still in a dressing gown, and smoking a joint.

Deleting Facebook was the best thing I ever did. It was slowly ruining my mental health.

I was already in a pretty bleak place at the time and I thought Facebook was helping, I could keep in touch with friends and see what they were up to. Quickly came to realise that all I was seeing were little snapshots of perfect times, fake happiness and bragging about picture perfect mundanity. When my life was slowly falling to pieces it really didn't help seeing other peoples artificially perfect lives. Made the decision one day to just delete my account. Almost instantly I felt a huge relief. I was no longer being sucked into everyone elses idea of happiness. I wasn't being lured into arguments between other friends or needless discussions about something completely inane.

That was about 8 or 9 years ago now. Friends who I thought I'd lose contact with are still in touch and those that didn't keep in touch or I've lost contact with didn't really add much to my life anyway.

I still have a 'burner' account which I very occasionally use to update the works Faceook page, but I have no friends or contacts on there. Aside from Instagram where I've been doing a daily photo project for the nearly 10 years now I don't bother with social media at all.

RFID tags. Confused the hell out of me years ago in Decathlon when the sales assistant told me to just drop the items into the till receptacle. I thought that multiple cameras worked out what it was as I put it down, but the assistant said it was just RFID tags. Then true to form one of the items was untagged and needed intervention.
