She sounds more like one of the normal ones.

Haha, she sounds spicy evil

Certainly more fun than the overweight middle aged suburban single mum fodder who’s idea of a good night in is falling asleep on the sofa watching love island…

That particular one would be too young for me, but those off the wall profiles could reveal quite fun personalities that weren’t really taking OLD very seriously. And as such would be up for a bit of noncommittal fun if you matched their vibe.
Also a slim chance you could also wind up a bit dead though if you let her pour the wine out of sight hehe

But it’s just OLD, the world at your fingertips. He who dares Rodney, he who dares…

Yes, i would not bother going there, not that she would actually carry out such a thing but, she's obviously a bit nuts right

Sort of bird that after a couple of hrs you would think ''jeez's , enough now, calm down''

Good luck guys with your searches.

You’re all showing how internet savvy you are on that one, it’s far from original

So on that score it would be a no, but she’s 19 and has 2 very big plus points that I can see.

My gut feel from my experience of OLD is that in real life she would be a lot larger and worse looking than the photo suggests.

Just in case anyone is thinking about "Thursday"

The idea is interesting. It's only active for Thursday each week and at midnight. All your matches delete. So the idea is to get chatting and exchange contact details.

OR

They put on events on Thursdays which people are supposed to register to go to (and pay of course)

The constant notifications from that app are fking annoying! (despite having my account on non visible) And I got precisely 1 match in the 4 weeks (days) I tried it.

Don't bother! I also didn't go to any of the events as they are never close enough for me to bother with! (all the ones near me seemed to be in Shoreditch etc!)What's the point in meeting with someone that lives over 14 miles away!

Tbh 14 miles isn't that far if it means potentially meeting someone ideal for you...

Has anybody had any success recently with the ol' dating malarkey?

(Like loads of people on here) I am out of the home for a huge chunk of my work day. Nearly 12 hours. I don't want to add on an hour or so commuting to see someone. I therefore limit myself to 10 miles. An event 14 miles away could have people attending from 10+ miles the other side. It would be most frustrating to meet someone and get on, only to find they live 30+ miles away.

In terms of the apps, I recently found myself bored, so reactivated my Hinge account, put up a couple new recent photos and rejigged my prompts. Sent a couple of the free "roses" to ladies who I seemed to have stuff in common with, sent some likes to a few others. Got ZERO responses.

Received a few "likes" from women that I have no interest in whatsoever. Its not just that these women are not ascetically pleasing. Its that they have zero in common with me so what's the point.*

And I've now re-paused the app as it is, and always will be, a waste of time for me! The absolute definition of insanity laugh

*I don't expect much. Though maybe others will point out my 4 things ARE expecting too much.

My Hard rules are
1) No kids from previous relationships
2) Be regularly active. As in 3+ times a week at whatever you're into.
3) No drugs
4) Not be politically left leaning. laugh

Preferences, but not deal breakers
Be 5'7+, as I'm 6'1
Not still live with their parents. This is surprisingly uncommon! Also I find the same women have zero savings and no ability or intention to move out! Despite being well into their mid 30s or beyond

Everything else is up for discussion as we go.

Back when OLD I was living in White City and matched with a really nice girl also in west London - she was attractive, sweet, good convo etc. We talked about meeting up soonest opportunity.
When details were exchanged, she was only about 4 miles away.
But then reality hit and it hit hard…
Turns out she was ‘that’ side of Hanger Lane.
I couldn’t do it. It would be too annoying over time.

So I was honest and gave her my reason.
She said suit yourself, basically that I was an idiot and that it was a lame excuse.
And the bit that still makes me laugh is she said ‘you’re not the first bloke I’ve met who’s said that’ hehe

I'm about as far from a romantic as its possible to be. But 4 miles, even contending with the HLG is eminently doable! You can run it in under half an hour. Cycle it in about 15!

This was back then though when I guess things were easier, there just always seemed to be plenty of other options to pursue.

A mate who still uses the apps says it’s all a bit crap now post-covid.

That seems to be a uniquely London ish thing.

I think nothing of travelling 2-3-4 hours to see a pal.

In London if they're a zone away you might see them once a decade.

Thanks to all for the advice on the L word, turns out the situation resolved itself!
Making her a cup of tea, we were discussing overused phrases when she mentioned couples that say "I love you" but don't really mean it.
I asked what she'd think if I said it right now and did mean it, because I'd been wanting to say it for a while.
She replied she'd been thinking just the same.
We both said it, meant it and embraced.
I'm very happy this evening cloud9
fks sake. Like watching Will on the Inbetweeners on a first date with his Mum present. Happy (genuinely) for you man, but it reads kinda tragic.

Great post! Wasn't this the guy whose username was telling us all how sexy his wife was - then she left him?
