Going through the process of buying and selling a house.
Hard to believe that it's now 2024 when it comes to solicitors, stacks of paper forms to fill in, most of the time with boxes to small to actually write what you need to write. then another form asking for the exact same information, why isn't this now all online ?
Next we have the proof of ID checks with paper statements or paper utility bills which is in direct contrast to all of those firms telling you to go paperless.
Amen to that. My house sale should complete in the next couple of weeks, but I had a call from the estate agent the other day, to say that I was holding up the sale, because apparently, I said I would leave rubbish at the house! I’m sure I didn’t, but maybe it was a box that I ticked inadvertently.
On the other side, I had an offer accepted and started the process, but a week later, the vendor decided that he wasn’t going to sell (despite the house being empty and on the market since early December). 10 days later, he decided he would sell, so the agent asked if I was still interested at the same price, so I said I was and started the process again. A week later, he decided he wasn’t going to sell and planned to move into the property. If it wasn’t for Ring doorbells and CCTV, I would be paying him a visit with a trailer load of manure or readymix concrete for the drive , some frozen sausages for his lawn and brown sugar to encourage ants!
My first purchase back in 1985 was with a similar such messer. New to market, we were the first to view, offered the asking price, which was accepted and so we got things moving with the conveyancing. Weeks turned into months with nothing happening, despite positive noises from the agent. Eventually I went around to see the seller and it turns out they didn't really want to move, they were just testing the waters and were taken by surprise when the first to view bought. So we binned it all off. However, the house remained on sale with the agent and with the For Sale sign outside, at the price we'd offered and which they'd accepted, so we repeated, and again nothing happened, they were still fking about and didn't really want to move. I went around and took down the For Sale sign, took it to the agents and threw it into their shop, rather theatrically. I made it clear to the agent that the house was not for sale and that if they continued to list it, any subsequent For Sale boards would be coming through their window. We bought another similar house very nearby and they were still there some several years later, with For Sale appearing from time to time.

I fking hate messers.

Eight years ago we viewed a house nearby, offered under the asking price because of amateur wiring in several places, outdoor wiring for a tub in twin and earth etc.

Refused she wanted the full asking price, in the meantime we found a better house in a better location and bought it.

Great delight to see the first seller accepted a lower offer than we offered, yes!

The sheer number of drivers who cut the corner at this junction.
I get to the giveaway and turn right, and have to be so vigilant for idiots like this van driver.
Not helped by cars parking right up to the junction, like the Smart.

People always do this on my road. About 5/6 years ago I had an E55 Merc which had a gearbox fault nobody could get to the bottom of. Driving to work one morning and a woman in a Qashqai was cutting said corner so I thought 'fk it' and let her take the front end off my car with her corner cutting. She learnt not to cut corners & my gearbox fault was no longer my problem (after I spent 2 weeks sweating that they were going to turn round & say they would repair it rather than write it off hehe)
See this more and more. Because I like my car I tend to take more care now approaching a particular T junction near me. Always get that fking gormless, blank stare as they go past! One day I'm gonna rent a car and approach the corner and let one of the tts hit me! I'll make sure my phone is in a holder recording and I've taken out the fully comp insurance with the rental company! Let the rental company insurers absolutely ruin them when they're done for dangerous driving, which will hopefully void their own insurance and leave 'em personally liable! (I'm not using my own car or taking the dashcam out as the holders are properly cemented to the screens! hehe)

To be clear, I probably won't do this, but I'd really fkin like to evil
There’s a recently posted vid on the Ashley Neil YouTube channel showing a cyclist being taken out by a car cutting the corner in the same way.
In my younger days, I was sitting in a Z500, 2 foot away from the centre line, and a cortina cut the corner. It was quite comedic, in that I lifted my right leg as he hit the front wheel, removing the bike from under me, leaving me standing in the road watching my pride and joy go down the road under the front of said cortina.

Could have been worse if I'd been closer to the centre line. So not funny at all.

Literally.

I have probably complained before.

Even better when they have to adjust and then give you the stinkface as they make the turn, as in "how dare you have the gall to be waiting to turn out of the junction I'm intending to cut".

Except in rare circumstances the two are mutually exclusive FFS.

Either coke and movie OR kebabs and hookers.
Unnecessary Americanism’s, surely the correct phraseology is we or prossy?

I'm getting mightily pissed off with the AI images on social media and the hundreds, often thousands of comments, pretty much exclusively from people who don't realise it's not real. FFS! What's wrong with people? We really are fked if this is where we are.

In a few years this kind of thing might even be a bit of a boon. Consider this, how can you tell if the average man on the street is an idiot? Usually you cant until they speak... Now they're blurting out any imbecilic thought they have, we just need a better method of filtering them which we'll develop in time.

Local news websites. I’ve had to disable my adblocker on my iPad as it’s not happy with my external keyboard, and have just visited the local newspaper’s website. It’s completely unusable with all the pop up ads etc attacking you from every angle combined with auto play videos. I had to close it immediately. I appreciate they have to earn ad revenue but why make the website virtually unusable?

In a similar vain, I use the Readly app for reading magazines, and it’s fantastic apart from an annoying yellow pop up box that allows you to switch into reader mode. I never use it but you can’t turn it off, and as you flick through the magazine it disappears and reappears depending on whether or not the page has adverts. I find it really stupid and intrusive, and definitely annoys me beyond reason!

I've noticed that about half of the car ads on Ebay are now written using AI bots. eg.

"This Saab 9-5 Estate Turbo Edition is a fantastic car with a lot of history. With five seats and five doors, this car is perfect for families or those who need a lot of space. The exterior colour is silver, and the interior is black, making it a sleek and stylish option for anyone. The car has had three previous owners and has a mileage of 150,000. Its engine size is 1.9 and runs on diesel fuel. It is a manual transmission, and its drive side is right-hand drive. It was first registered in 2009, and the V5C registration document is available."

and another just seen now :

"This Ford Kuga Zetec Tdci 2wd is an estate car with a silver exterior colour. It has 5 seats. The car has a manual transmission and a diesel engine with a size of 1997 cc. The car was first registered on January 4th, 2011 and comes with a V5C registration document. The vehicle is being sold for spares or repairs and is in need of some work to bring it back to its former condition. With its right-hand drive, this modern car is ideal for those looking for a project or for someone who needs parts for their own Ford Kuga. "

+1 for corner cutting at junctions. Have had too many close calls due to that; bloody annoying.

Also - when I'm pottering along, and I see a car approaching coming onto my side of the road to avoid a parked car or similar. Mentally capable of doing a quick relative velocity assessment, I calculate that I don't need to slow down as they'll be well clear before I am even near.

However - they take fking FOREVER to get back onto their own side of the road, despite facing oncoming traffic - seemingly at no more than a fraction of a degree of steering angle - forcing me to brake, completely unnecessarily. aholes!! Get back on your own side!! Grrr.

I use another car forum, and this is getting so bad that we get bots replying to fking bots.
