PH Secret Santa 2023 - Times are still hard
Discussion
Oh Yes! It's that time of year to grab the tinsel and sneer at a Turkey!
I'll be in when I've got a moment to send the message. I pity whoever gets me this year, I've still been very much lurking but not contributing much with all the hassles that moving elderly relatives, trying to sell a house, trying to buy a house (stuck in conveyancing hell - hopefully be in before Christmas. But I'm not betting on which year) so there's not much posting history to go at!
But nonetheless, I'M ALL IN!!

I would be in again, but would appreciate if UK senders make sure they pay the customs duty upfront,
or included in their shipping, if this is possible.
I don´t mind blowing the budget on the present
but having to pay €€€ just to recieve my present from post office was diluting the Christmas spirit a bit.
This is one of the reasons I've not previously ticked the box for overseas. I've just had a quick search and I can't see any of the popular parcel shippers having any such option to pre pay VAT or duty. When I receive parcels from overseas it's not the customs and VAT that annoys it's the much higher handling fees imposed by the couriers. Maybe this could be avoided if you'd be happy to have goods shipped from a euro retailer. Of course they wouldn't be as personal as something home made or wrapped.or included in their shipping, if this is possible.

I did ready this article

It told you that the “gift” tick box on the CN22 customs form is being “misinterpreted” by EU carriers and it is addressing this with a “redesigned” form due at the end of the month.
so maybe things will improve this year. It suggests that under a €45 limit shouldn't incur fees for items marked as gifts.vixen1700 said:

In, signed up, email sent and in the ready to give and receive position
Never outed myself before (apart from the mice bookends ), but glad you liked last year's gifts. Have you used your mug yet?
Loved the rest of the gifts though.
A minor point about the Friday 3rd Nov cutoff In previous years there’s been a bit of flex in it, but this year I’m going to have to be firm on it… as firm as a 60 year old jacked up on little blue pills
The reason is a very first world problem… I’m going away a couple of days after for 3 weeks. Usual Santa duties will continue but I’d rather avoid having to have a spreadsheet open to do the matching on the beach

Right then... Just tested (again, for this year!) that the PH PM system doesn't prevent you carpet-bombing people with the same message
31 messages sent (copies of which I get too ), yes I keep a very tidy inbox
As its early on a Saturday, I had gin last night and I have a 4yr old demanding cake for breakfast there's every chance I may have emailed a couple of people who are enrolled this year
