I started selling mine off as they take up so much space, especially the down jackets. Get three of four of those and it's like trying to park a Mercedes S class in your wardrobe! Still have 3 though smile (down jackets not S class)

Anything padded surely is on the peg downstairs job, we have 10 hooks, and I estimate there’s 20 jackets or so there now. Have to switch out between the seasons as they won’t all fit.

Lol, we split under the stairs hooks and there’ll be a full scale row if someone puts their coat on my hook. I don’t mind really but if you let standards slip etc lol

Yip, also switch out on seasonality.

Not down but a big chunky insulated parka from Craghoppers https://www.craghoppers.com/mens-bishorn-ii-insula...
Takes up loads of space and to be honest doesn't get much use as unless it low to minus figures centigrade its just too warm. Better a thiner coat and add a fleece or woolen jumper underneath.

I'm not a banker bro and I don't have a blazer biggrin

I think "field jacket" or "utility jacket" is the sort of thing I'm leaning towards.

https://www.piniparma.com/en-gb/products/green-sol...

But probably a bit "plainer" looking.

Same issue around how to avoid "made in Bangladesh" or whatever.
When I used to buy from army surplus stores in my student days I never looked like that.

I wouldn't spend that much money on a field jacket.

If that's the style you're after also google car coats. It is a car forum. I've a very good down filled one that looks like a normal jacket on the outside but it's no longer available.

Yeah I'm pondering a "Sherlock" from Percival.

Seems to meet the build/quality criteria and not too badly priced and looks reasonably practical given some of the concerns over form v function.

If one of your concerns is ethical workforces and a preference for UK made this is an option along similar lines - https://communityclothing.co.uk/collections/mens-c...

I've yet to buy from community clothing but probably will at some point. I can't justify buying another coat but tempted by their Harringtons.

I actually think their casual shirts are better than their work shirts

I recently got some T-shirts and pants from them, pleased with the price and quality.

To be fair I would wear those to work (maybe no the short sleeve). My company had a dress for your day policy. Basically if you were not meeting and client or underwriter you don't need a suit and tie, smart casual was the rule but many still wore suits out of habit.

Used to buy tons of CT shirts, business casual, business, ties.... don't need it so much now.
Was great when they'd ship from the UK and it was still 4 for £100... now on their EU site it's EUR87-93 each with discounts (10-20% or so) if you buy multiples.
I do need some more business casual shirts for a couple of weeks of conferences coming up. I expect CT will get my money....

Otherwise, it'll be polo shirts from Uniqlo for most of the Spring / Summer for me.

Sports Direct mostly, although it has been three years since I bought any new clothes, I really need some new trousers.

If I need something smarter M and S, I used to buy underwear from them too although since they closed down the high street shop it has been Amazon.

Amazon or Sports Direct for shoes and trainers.

I still have shirts that are 30 years old!
