Basic IT.

Yesterday I was trying to get a thing on the ipad to print. I click on "Print" and selected the printer... which then just disappeared from the box. No idea.

The document still isn't printed.

All I'm trying to do is send a document which is electronic, on the ipad, electronically via email to someone else. At the current rate my best bet is to cheat, by taking a screenshot, email the screenshot to my PC as a picture, blow it up to fill a page, print it, then scan it back in as a PDF, then email that....

There's got to be an easier way. And I'm only 30....

I hate computers.
I'm sure there's a way to let tech do it for me but every year I do my accounts and basically just use my computer as a typewriter.

Not much different to how I used to write everything down in a big book with lines laugh

I had to wire a plug the other day, actually the socket on an extension lead, I was ok okay with the old system of redL, blackN and BrownE but this new wiring with stripes was horrible. It was also years since I wired anything.
You might have a colour recognition problem, then, as the old system was Red, Black and GREEN, not Brown! smile

If you were used to the old system then just remember that the earth connection (which was green) still has some green in it (being green/yellow now) and "Blue" rhymes with "Neu.." so Blue is Neutral.

Burp
Don't you have to keep going to hospital to be deflated? wobble
Weird one, but I couldn't burp either until I met my now wife, who introduced me to smoking the devil's lettuce.
As soon as I started smoking weed I was able to burp and holy moly what a difference.
I'd have to go and be sick while drinking beer after 3 pints before. What a game changer.

No longer smoke but have retained the ability

Do you just want to email a pdf of your document?

It sounds like you are first printing to pdf, it prints to file, but you don't know where the file has been saved to.

Or do you want a physical printout? I'm not sure, since you say you want to email it?

Just select "save as pdf", and then email said new document.

Thats what I thought. If the document is already electronic then just attach it to the email.

You'd think it would be that simple, but you underestimate the ability of our HR department to create the most unusable HR-IT system by a country mile.

You can view documents on the system, but you cannot export them, save them or attach them to emails. Only view them. You can try and print directly from the app but it then that's a whole world of pain surrounding getting the ipad to recognise the printer.

I'm at the point where I may have to screenst it, bugger about with the screenshot and then send that. All it needed was a "Save as PDF" button, but no, HR and the IT kids know that would be too easy.

Read the word "Hyperbole".

I know how it's spelt and know how its pronounced. When it appears in print I just read it as hyper-bowl.
You may enjoy the fact that the Subreddit r/superbowl is dedicated to fantastic feathered birds, rather than an American sports trophy game.

Draw.

I'm in awe of those (almost anyone else!) who can see a shape and transfer it to paper.
My development of this skill seems to have stunted at about 7 years old. I can see as I'm drawing that the thing isn't looking right but somehow my pencil instructions just won't create something that looks right.
Me too! I've got a friend who is an artist who can draw anything you want and it looks exactly like it should - she doesn't understand why everyone else can't do it as she's always been able to.

I don't think many people would categorise drawing as 'simple' rofl

Were you "taught" mental arithmetic at school?
Drifting onto Remind Us of a Thing turf...
...in primary school (mid/late '60s) the form teacher would speak a list of number(s) with operator instruction(s), short pause between. Answers entered in one's answer book (remember them). Pauses were just long enough (for some/most/many) to do the sum mentally but too short to write more than the answer.

It's a talent that can't be taught. Growing up a mate was extremely good at drawing. No matter how he showed me I simply couldn't draw like him.

He went into special effects and has worked on many many major films (Disney, Marvel etc). He's quite senior now and earning very good money.

Was taught the times tables. I can remember the tune, it's the words I can't recall! smile

I guess I must have been because in all other aspects of maths I'm fine. It's just the ability of doing the simple adding, subtracting, multiplication, etc, in my head, quickly.

Spelling - never been any good at it, certain words I just can't get. Sometimes the opposite, Ill type something and think its wrong spellcheck it and its correct.

Some people will point out spelling mistakes to me, maybe they think they are being helpfull in showing the correct spelling, but its pointless after the 50th/70th/90th time of writing it, it will still be incorrect, I just can't get certain words. On the flip side I bet there are things I can do that they can't.

I don't even know what that means never mind know if I am able to do it!!

I just can't solder copper pipes, I always use to much heat, I know that is what I do and every time I think don't use too much heat or you will fk it up and yet too much heat i use and I fk it up.

press fit/and or plumber these days, I don't even try myself any more.

- I also tighten compression fittings to tight and make those leak too...
