I just can't help feeling the tunnels they've explored most often are the ones up each other's arses.

I think you're all wrong.

They are generally a good bunch on there but they are rightly tired of people who just come along and say tell me how to get in xxxxx building.

They spend a lot of time and effort planning and figuring out how to get in these locations so all they usually ask is that if you're serious about exploring you do some of your own work and also participate in the community rather than just asking often as we've seen here very rudely how to obtain access. If you prove yourself in the community and as decent person who isn't going to wreck the place or cause problems for other explorers, you'll find they are very open with the information.

Some of the posters on here as far worse than any elitism you may perceive them as showing.
bks. All I did was ask where it was, and when I became more interested, they banned me. They're jealous little fktards who think that they, and they alone, should have the right to trespass on other people's land. I created a Wikipedia article on the location, which they then set about vandalising.

I disagree, if they were that concerned, they'd lock the forums down completely and not put the info in the public domain. They're more than happy to have their egos stroked by people who come on and tell them how awesome they are but the minute someone shows a genuine interest they get banned.

It's ery of the highest order.

It's not about hiding what they do from people, it's about sharing it with the exploring community.

And no people don't get banned for showing a genuine interest unless it they persist with questions about how to do it etc.

If you go in with the attitude you've shown above is it really surprising you wouldn't be welcome? I recently joined the community (about 6 months ago) and didn't do any of those things and people have been incredibly helpful and friendly with me, in fact I'd class some of them as friends.

If you are decent and following the rules and ethos of the site you'll be very welcome. It's no different than pistonheads in that aspect.

What I find amusing is that they spend expend all that effort just to enter a disused public toilet in Manchester. The Lost Treasure of the Incas it is not! Maybe George Michael can offer them some useful tips on what marvels to explore next.

Today's effort - six hours on horseback and foot through the jungle following an old Spanish trail that led in and out of a river, quite cool and refreshing. This trail has not been used for four hundred years, so a bit overgrown. Found the place on the river that is noted in 16th century Spanish documents as being where the Spaniards killed some French pirates. Used machete to chop way through in parts. Passed a bloke who was hunting for a jaguar that was killing his livestock. Got to a waterfall but didn't fancy abseiling it, being as I was on my tod and a good ten miles into the rainforest. Nothing much to show treasure wise except some 16th century pots and mule shoes. No snakes today, whether there weren't any or whether I just didn't see them is impossible to know.

Next mission - follow the trail all the way from one river and into the next valley, 8-10 hours of chopping required.

Done loads more since then, fended off pit-vipers, saw a jaguar, collapsed with heat exhaustion, mapped miles and miles of trails, once had to cross and re-cross a river up to the waist 40 times, translated old Spanish documents, almost lost my Landcruiser in a river. .. still no gold bars..developing a mad glint in the eyes now..

Not yet. That is the 'super difficult expedition'. I am just doing 'easy expeditions' at the moment.

Hey peeps,

I just found this thread today and read every page very intresting as i am too manchester born and bred. This is the first i have heard about this, some good stuff coming from POD. Did you ever get anywhere with this or have you laid it to rest?.
