My Nan had an old buryed nissan (I know the car maker didn't build them but that's what old people always call themwink) air raid shelter buryed in her garden, I asked about digging it out to explore but she assured me it was about 6'x12' damp, cold, full of shit and smelled of wee (bit like her really) and that grandad had thrown all the rubbish from decorating the front room in there before he filled the entrance in. I Just hope that Jersey will yield more interesting results than Dartfordwink
These are all over apartently. My grandad has one in his garden. Either that or its just a joke grandads use a lotwink

Alright, look love it's like when your mate's bought some new shoes, she pops round of a coffee and browse of heat magazine with you, but the inconsiderate cow leaves the new shoes in the box and simply tells you she bought a pair, you get excited at what's going to be in the box, and you're just itching to have a peek, your mate plays them down and says they're only a work pair, but you're just moist with expectation, and chaffing at the bit to have a peek, she goes for a wee and you can resist no longer so you grab your chance and open the box. Inside you find that Jimmy Choo as been outed by a pair of crocs and your heart sinks, but it was fun waiting wasn't it? Now where's dinner?

Brilliant story....very jealous that you have such a rich history in your back garden. I'm a real WW2 nerd biggrin

Just to be serious for a moment.

I think its admirable that you are taking the time to do the research and to record some more history. Today is the 64th anniversary of D-Day...meaning that even if someone was just 18 entering the war at that later stage they would be 82 now...also meaning that the memories and stories from WW2 are fast fading from living memory.

For more interesting WW2 tunnel stuff have a search on youtube for 2, very short colour videos taken by someone walking through Hitlers bunker in Berlin shortly before it was destroyed and built on.

Make a nice walk in wardrobe though don't you think...

Get.

Out.

Thanks for starting your own thread CY88. Excellent stuff.

ETA If there is anything of value/historical interest, etc down there, can you lay claim to it all??

You know when you have a random key in the back of the kitchen drawer, next to your collection of run out pens and that Chinese you never go to ?

I've always wondered what it was for.
You've got a Chinese in your kitchen draw yikes bloody handy if you can't be arsed to cook, I reckon.
