If it all turns out to be rubbish at least you've got a fair few quids worth of scrap cast iron there - should cover the costs of hiring the digger at least.

I await the next thread "Help! my mate Dave's stuck down a Nazi tunnel after the boulder rolled and blocked the entrance"

Okay. We managed to get the lamp inside at last.....

By this stage we were "whooping" like slightly crazed americans, and my wife ran out to see what was going on. It looks (and smells funnily enough) dry so far.

@ Gretchen, I estimate that the floor is 12-15 foot down.

This is going to be one cool garage. Well done on all your hard work - now go and get a good nights sleep as you and Dave have a lot of digging to do tomorrow.

Bet you're glad you're not on the mainland UK as I reckon half of PH would turn up to help tomorrow!

Make sure you lay claim to the bunker as your new garage (second garage? Race garage?) before the missus gets any funny ideas that she might be able to turn it into an annexe or shoe storage area or anything!

edit: Can you dig a small access tunnel to the nazi tunnel from the house, so you could have a Thunderbirds style sequence of elaborate slides and hydraulic lifts for when you're leaving for work.

So set the timer on the camera, tie it to a rope, along with the light and get it in there. Maybe?

I'm not technical.

Yeah - tell her if she wants a new laundry room she'll have to dig it out herself!

My wife took a picture of us trying to find the best angle to photograph...whilst I remind Dave not to drop my DSLR.

Right, does the PH collective want to see something cool.....?
