Excuse my ignorance but what on earth is a park run barcode. I guess a barcode but I don't understand the significance ?

Numbing isn't routine mainly for 2 reasons that I'm aware of.

- for using a numbing cream, some artists don't like that the skin they're working on to have anything else in/on it as it may have an effect on the ink spreading. Not sure there is any evidence of this and some artists are perfectly ok with clients using it.

- the pain isn't that bad. What I found after my first session, is that it was the body releasing adrenaline that caused me to feel wobbly rather than the actual pain being so bad. If you make sure you eat well and drink loads of fluid then it should be ok to cope with.
Some people do also believe in the fact that if you're choosing to get a tattoo, that the pain is an integral part of the experience!

That said.. Armpit sounds very painful so best of luck Johnny! Looking forward to seeing more of Kamil's work!

Having won 3hrs free work at the studio, I'm thinking of going with their new arrival Piotr Deadi Dedel if I can find a theme that I like. Else I'll get Kamil to add something onto the shoulder piece he did last year.

Part of one of mine goes up there.

The artist recommended leaving a small bit off as the pain was getting a bit much.

I was okay with that.

Park runs are just that - runs in a park on a weekend - have sprung up all over the country in the last few years ... I guess you can scan your barocde and it takes your subs/entry fee/car park - something ...

It's all free. The barcode is ID - scanned at the finish to log your 5k time (visible on the parkrun website).

Both sleeves are already into the armpit but it's not fully done. I remember thinking it felt like he must be working right in the middle of it, then seeing he was no way near...

Pidsy - are yours fully done? How bad was it..? Worse than ribs?
not fully (pretty high up into the hair). high chest, extending round under my arm and onto my back. it wasnt actually that painful, just fired off nerve twitches all over the place. worst part of that area was nearest the front.

worst bit of skin for pain ive had was my bum. i'm having it covered now - never felt tattoo pain like it.

Great idea. I can't think of a better way to show you are both arrogant and deluded in just 5 words.
Who are you to judge him ?

Why be so rude ?
Well I'm not god, but the fact that I can judge him shows the slogan is wrong. Of course he doesn't have to listen to my judgement, but I am still able to judge him.

Should he ever end up in court, he will have to listen to the judgement of the judge or magistrate. More proof that the phrase is utter nonsense.

As regards rudeness, it's difficult to be polite when commenting on such a ludicrous tattoo
THAT is entirely your own opinion, and I would imagine it means SFA to the poster.
I hate people like you that look down on someone else because you believe your self to be superior.
Absolutely typical of a number of the posters on PH thes days.
Whose opinion did you expect me to give? Of course it's my own opinion. What a ridiculous comment to make.

I think it's a shame that you use the word "hate" to describe someone on the internet that you disagree with. But hey, it's a free world. I reserve my hatred for child killers and assorted terrorists, not people who opt for stupid tattoos or people who defend them.

As regards superiority, in that respect you're right. I don't feel superior to many people, but yes, I do feel superior to someone with an "only God can judge me" tattoo. I think most people, if they were honest, would admit to feeling the same. Because it's a crap slogan that smacks of arrogance and delusional thoughts, as I pointed out initially.
The point he is making is if you don't like his idea then why not just move on. Why belittle his idea and insult him?
because, for him..

Interesting...

I'm excited but dreading it at the same time.

I'll probably start my backpiece (neck to arse, down at least one leg) after I've had both pits done, so maybe December time...

Back is a walk in the park compared to the chest!

That's cunning. I wonder whether I could get my Tescos Club Card done for the same reason.

It's actually got nothing to do with being 'arrogant and deluded'. Like most people with tattoos there is a particular reason why I want that phrase and having it in Latin is, IMO, a little less obvious and would probably lead to fewer people making a massive assumption like you have.
Hadn't actually considered Hebrew because that's a good shout also.
Not wishing to get involved with this at all, buuut....

Are you aware of the inherent irony when considering getting the word 'God' tattooed in Hebrew?

I just hope you've got lots of spare skin.

I was at Kamil's yesterday for my first session with him for what must be 2 years.

Had a great day. Was nice and easy and relaxed and I sat really well for a decent 2 hours of tattooing.

We went for the right armpit this time, reckon we got half fully done.

Blank

Stencil

Finished

Well pleased with it, and can't wait to get the top half done. Will finish it off nicely. He's fully booked for ages now but I've said I'll grab a cancellation in a month or so.

Pain wise it was ok. Fine for the first hour, working bottom to top. Last half hour was bloody painful. I'm pleased with how I coped.

...and if you get bored with it, with some careful trimming you could give him a hairdo, a moustache or something. wink

Anyone else heading up to the London convention next weekend? I'm hoping to see Florian Karg as his stuff is just incredible, and also need to chat to Kamil about the 3hrs that I won.

I went a couple of years ago on the Friday and it was relatively chilled. Anyone know what it's like on the Sunday? Manic?

ETA: Well done to Johnny for sitting for that new piece. I literally cannot fathom how much that surely must have killed with each pass!
