Like you I have one on my upper arm which can't be seen.

I do honestly think that people do look down on others who have tattoo's on show. Just in the same way people used to do with Skinheads and Punks back in the day.
They do. I'm not saying it's right, but its human nature. Like it or not, Tattoos still carry a stigma and a sign of being lower class. (That's not my train of thought before you start having another hissy fit)
Agree & disagree

There are some that react like the typical tattooed thug (aka skinhead) that exkst to perpetuate the HTH that tats are bad - we've seen it demonstrated in this thread in response to your original question about the Gorilla!

But you'd not live saying that of Moneypenny or Gretchen or me!! And one I'd say was most tattooed on here, Johnny, has been utterly polite & helpful (despite looking like a thug at times wink) and dresses like JAYB wink
I'm not saying that's what I think, I'm saying that's what society thinks (to a degree). Whether we like it or not, tattoos are still viewed as a mark of lower class.

For balance, the same question has been asked multiple times in this thread. Like I said, certain individuals have been spouting the same st on this thread since 2008, CVM, sc0tt and singlecoil for example.

and we're supposed to believe that CVM was asking out of genuine interest? Of course he was!

So yeah, imo, it was entirely appropriate.
He was. He's asked me & Moneypenny in person about ours, full of curiosity not rudeness, but a desire to know.

The question about the Gorilla & the other piece is a good question, they are beautifully done, fabulous drawings in their own right but I don't understand why someone would have either inked on them the rest of their lives. My tattoos are personal. They have meaning to me. I designed them. I didn't walk in with a picture froma film & say "I'd like that please".

If you think "why the fk not" is an appropriate reaction to ANY polite question, then I imagine you are either a great disappointment to your parents, or, well...let's just say it proves the point wink

I realise that, but if you said that to me, Moneypenny, or Gretchen in the pub, you'd leave with a black eye for the insult wink

It was at one time very popular with the aristocracy. As usual, the upper and lower classes don't give a damn while the cringingly insecure middle classes fret about keeping up appearances.

Really? A polite question is asked & the acceptable response is that?!

Not in my world, nor in 99% of the people I know! And a straw poll of 20 in the office stated they would find it an offensive response to any question.

It's an exceedingly rude response and I'm shocked that you admit that you think it's appropriate TBH.
You are sadder than I thought if you "straw polled" 20 people in the office about an argument on the internet.

People cover themselves in tattoo's because they want to. Much like you wanted to. Why should anyone have to justify anything other than "why the fk not?".

Either that or you work for the local government.

It is ironic, then, that regardless of the use smilies, I've managed to not get personal with anyone or level insults at them.

Would this be a good time to re-ask my question of why would you want a gorillas face plastered on your calf?!

My apologies, despite my use of you, I didn't actually mean TheJimi personally; more all of you that think "why the fk not" is an appropriate response.

It isn't.

Well, at least not in polite society/my generation.

Why are you asking me to justify tattoo's. You have them too.

Why the fk not.

When I got my tattoo, I just fancied a tattoo. No regrets here.

And I know that yours are as personal as mine are.

Unlike the Gorilla CVM was asking about.

Which to me looks like a still from Planet of the Apes, so unless you were that ape, why?
