Do you have a tattoo?
Discussion
Righto. I've seen a few things (the 3D style) that I'm trying to incorporate something that's personal to me into.
I think my views have changed over the last couple of years. I've never been 'anti', I'm just sometimes be used by the crap some people get indelibly printed onto themselves for life. 😉

He might be doing well but those tattoos on his hands are going to limit him if he decided on a career change. And 20 is awfully young to say "I'm going to do this for the rest of my life" is it not ?
At 20 most people know what they'd like to do with their lives & are studying/working towards it, and have been since their teens. He's a fabulous young man with his path well mapped out already, there is only one way he is going - UP!
Trust me, his tats won't hold him back

Some people might know what they want to do at 20 but how many of them are actually doing it at 40 ?He's a fabulous young man with his path well mapped out already, there is only one way he is going - UP!

Things change. I've changed careers several times since I was that age. I'm doing something now that I didn't even know existed when I was 18.
I just don't feel the risk/reward is really there. Potentially life changing doors slamming in your face for decades to come, to say 'wow cool hand tattoos' in the pub as a teenager.
You obviously know the kid; I don't. But you can't say trust me his tats won't hold him back as you don't have a clue. Maybe they wouldn't stop a guitarist in a rock band but what happens when he get his arm bit off by a crocodile and needs to look for a 9-5 job

Doesn't sound right to me.I had no idea, still don't tbh, but I'm happy with where my choices then have taken me.

Razor usually, although the OH used her epilator on me last night...
Shaving your armpits on a regular basis for the sake of a tattoo - seems like a mission to me! But then I'm a fundamentally lazy (and hairy!) person. It looks good though, I can imagine it being rather sore. Out of interest, with the ink over the arm pit, will it affect sweating?

st. I hadn't considered that. What do you suppose I tell my youngest about his intentions to study Astro Physics at Uni? It's a bit too young to be pigeonholing himself?? Edited by g3org3y on Sunday 14th December 08:28

That's a load of Old bks. Not much of a life if you ask me if you have to plan it.

Just a heads up.... He probably doesn't beleive in magic so he won't be god.
How would you guys going about getting something translated into another language. I'd like to get a phrase in Japanese and thought I'd ask the opinion about trusting such things as google translate.
An just to spoil the trolls fun. I already have a full sleeve on my leg and arm and Im in progress getting it pullover my chest and ribs, I'm not after "mum" to be translated and put on my forearm.
The Phrase I'd like translated would be "progress not perfection" This in turn would be spaced down the middle of my spine. But it would be upside down and only readable (if you can read Japanese) whilst I was performing a inversion pose through my yoga flows.

You would need to be an idiot to trust Google translate for a tattoo text It needs to be done by someone who's a legitimate native speaker.

"Winston Churchill's mother, Lady Randolph Churchill, had a snake tattooed on her wrist.
It became fashionable in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for aristocrats, including women, to be tattooed. At the time, tattooing was very expensive and people paid large sums for their designs. Later, as the costs were reduced, tattooing was adopted by the lower classes and the practice fell out of favour with the social elite.
The strategic positioning of Lady Churchill's tattoo meant that she could choose not to display it by wearing a bracelet to cover it."
Wit the cost of desirable artists work rising, I wonder if attitudes will reverse once more. With the social elite choosing to display their status through the art on ones body once again.
