This may sound like a stupid question but I assure you all it's a genuine one.

Are there tattooists that specialise in cover ups?

I've got an old 5" tattoo in red and black on my shoulder, and I'd like to have something more modern covering it. Do those colours present a problem? I'd go for something bigger and more colourful this time.

I'm in Essex (and occasionally London) if you know of anyone in those areas.

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully that deflects from the downs cow with antlers, cross eyes and a hitler moustache
Yes, it does rather.... naming a st beer on your arm for posterity laugh
Still, there's always Tattoo Fixers - so long as you don't ask Alice to do a clock face with Roman numerals on it! hehe

Quick look on youtube...Some great coverups. Gives you an idea of what can be done.

Thanks for replies so far.

So there's no special skills to cover ups? Any good artist can do it?

I know what sort of design I'm after. I assume the part that is the actual cover up will need to stick to the red and black that is already there, or darker colours, yes?

Darker colours generally.

Most can do it. Not all will want to...

What's the reasoning behind that? Surely getting someone who has fallen out of love with (their) tattoos, back into inking is a good thing?

I agree.

Just seems some don't really like to do it.

Maybe they feel it restricts them a tad?

She's good, though it's not really my style. Leanne Fate does amazing realism stuff. Again, not my system but great tattooing none the less.

The ink work isn't done justice in the pic!

Can Alice draw a good downs cow with antlers? hehe

You're taking it in good spirit though davel. Great idea for a tattoo though IMO, a nicely done, strong, good-loooking stag in proper colour. Better than all that tribal, foreign lettering rubbish.

What did you ask for?
I asked for a friggin cow with Downs and antlers ! smile
C'mon now, don't milk it..

The wife has decided she wants her legs done by Sneaky Mitch.

Looks like trips to Leeds may be on the agenda then.

More on "E4's tattoo artist of the year".

It's not going well, just before they were going to announce who was going home tonight, one of them decided to quit.

So the weekest artist this week got to stay on.

My session is next tuesday, 4 hours.

And I've just been offered another 3 on Saturday last minute, so hopefully 7 hours should be enough to finish what I'm planning.

Very happy!

Thanks.

He's the main man there so I expect he's the most expensive.

Would he be able and open to what I outlined on the previous page? Part cover up but incorporating a larger back piece too? He seems to work mostly in grey and black whereas I want some colour work.

Honestly I wouldn't know.

Best just drop him a line/call and ask.
