Thank you for your letter.I'm sorry you are unhappy with the way your brother's compliant has been dealt. Does the addressee not know the name of their own brother? Very odd.Sloppy as well.If you have to name Mr J. Smith then do it in a different sentence.

Very odd.Sloppy as well.If you have to name Mr J. Smith then do it in a different sentence. Reason being I wrote a similar letter at work today (to be exact, they were writing on behalf of their Sister in Law) and it's been bugging me since as it just didn't look right no matter how I wrote it. I've always written exactly who the letter refers to, even when the sender obviously knows. That way it's all official and can be no doubt who we are referring to. If it was a less immediate relation, such as someone writing on behalf of a client, it seem even more sensible to include the name of the person(s) they're talking about

Try it that way? Not allowed to format a letter in that manner. On a related note, most of the work at our place has been sent to India (because it's not like we have anyone in need of employment here). The standard of correspondence is nothing less than shocking. I don't think I've read a single letter they've written that doesn't contain a grammatical error.

Good grammar is a rarity nowadays. Some take pride in attempting to write well, others don't appear to care less. The point a lot of people miss is that it can be seen as quite rude and vulgar to address someone with poor English.I'm afraid good grammar is becoming a lost art, although some sections of PH are refreshingly well written.

It cost us 's to insure our cars, and those who dont bother either get away with it of recieve stupid, paltry fines of only a few hundred pounds if they do actually get caught. I have no sympathy for them, and if caught on the public road should recieve fines in excess of 1,000 miniumum or have their car crushed. End of.
