Apostrophe'''''s, when did the rot set in?

The fact is if a bonnet is sitting in it's closed position then it's a reasonable assumption that if the catches haven't engaged at that point then there's a fault with the catches. In which case pulling the bonnet after closing it would only help if the catches let go at that point.
IE in general a mistakenly unlocked bonnet would be obvious visually before setting off because it would be sitting way above the wings out of it's normal closed position. It also wouldn't get far down the road before the airstream lifted it even at low speed.

The offence of using a hand-held mobile phone is a strict liability offence.
The offence of causing or permitting the use of a mobile phone is one of specific intent. I.e. men's rea is required.
Whereas women's rea is an absolute defence, of course. The offence of causing or permitting the use of a mobile phone is one of specific intent. I.e. men's rea is required.
This thread really is a sad bed-wetter's refuge, isn't it? And yes, I have added apostrophes to this post only and no, I don't usually bother.
Time for you all to take a long hard look at yourselves...

I realise this isn't to do with apostrophe'''''s but thought I'd put it here anyway!
In the first post, mikeveal has written a transcript of a letter he will be sending his insurance company.
It starts:
"Dear Sirs"
Now I didn't bother posting on that thread as I'm not sure it's particularly helpful but what do others think of this opening? I just think it's making a completely wrong assumption that you're writing to a man.
I would never exclusively address either men or women when writing a letter or email.
Then again, he also closes it "Yours sincerely" rather than "Yours faithfully".
