.... pretty much every US comedian, bar Robin Williams, Bill Hicks, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor.

All about as funny as a colonic irrigation with some rusty barbed wire.
Whilst I appreciate comedy is a very subjective and personal thing, to state that all US comedians are unfunny is just not correct. Have a listen to some of the lesser-known (over here) comics. Dan Cummins, Dana Gould, Dave Attell, Todd Barry, Daniel Tosh, Mitch Hedberg (RIP), Demetri Martin, Anthony Jeselnik to name just a few. All have me laughing aloud when listening on headphones (embarrassingly). Most of these are huge in the US. I could give you a list of at least 100 others.

Mind you, Andrew Dice Clay; now there's an unfunny tt.....
+1 for those US comedians.

Especially Mitch Hedberg. He was really funny. RIP.

Similar story with Sara Pascoe and her partner, John Robbins. The bit on Mock the Week when he joked about living with her is on my personal top 10.

Probably part of the reason that they separated a few months ago.

Robbins' podcasts with Elis James are very good.
Robbins and James do a Saturday afternoon show on Radio X to,and stand in for others too. I really like them, didn't realise Robbins was Pascoe's OH, I do remember the bit about being her OH from MTW though.
Just keep Milton Jones and Ed Byrne on MTW each week for me

Some friends mentioned Count Arthur Strong the other day so downloaded some episodes.

Oh my word, it was dire. We lasted a shade over five minutes of utterly unfunny drivel.

Really? confused

I went to see Jimmy Carr at Lakes Leisure in Kendal. After the interval, a gaggle of pissed-up gatecrashers occupied the disabled seats at the front. They heckled, shouted, sang and threw stuff at JC. Admittedly he tried but he soon crumbled and closed the show early. Ruined all round.

Same venue a year earlier... Ken Dodd was infinitely better.
"Yes madam, what a lovely day it is for putting a cucumber through the letterbox and saying the Martians have landed."

The audience simply fell to bits.

I think there's probably a lot of middle ground between the grossly sick/offensive humour of someone like Jimmy Carr, and the extremely basic low-brow toilet humour for the proletariat, Mrs Browns Boys.

From my own point of view, I generally only like intellectual, quick witted, smart arse, political Oxbridge type stuff.

But I appreciate that others may find what I like extremely unfunny.

He had a best?
His early stand up at smaller venues was genius, that's how he broke through. Couldn't find enough new material to keep it going though.

Alan Carr - is he even a comedian? Either way he's an unfunny/irritating little fker.

Personally I only enjoy watching Stewart Lee.
Any ideas for other people to try?

I absolutely don't get him, perhaps on account of not being English enough.

Jimmy Carr
Been a fan of his since early 2000's, when I first discovered him on the internet. Years later I came to live in the UK and had the chance to see him performing live. Unfortunately by that point the novelty has worn off, the jokes were repetitive, and overall the show felt rather bland. My best recollection from that evening is the beautiful interiour of Leeds Town Hall, but that's about it. I hope he makes a comeback at some point, rather than just kicking the same dead horse for another decade.

In contrast, one comedian who wasn't funny but became much better with age is Frank Skinner. I don't think he does proper stand-up comedy, but his podcast on Absolute radio and hosting of Room 101 are brilliant IMO, nothing like the early stuff he did with David Baddiel.

Finally, Andy Zaltsman. WTF is that thing doing on telly? His sister has an interesting podcast though.

I sometimes go to comedy showcases for unknown comics.
On one occasion every 1 of the 12 comics died a death. That was quite funny in itself.

He was Tim Vine's choice on BBC R4's Chain Reaction.

Well worth a listen

Hated the radio show, just didn't find it funny at all and his voice grates. I have tried the TV show, 2 minutes before turning over.

my friend, who generally has same taste (and actually better in some respects) in comedy as me, thinks it's brilliant.

Sara Pascoe did such a performance at my local club last year. She was ok,but what struck me was she made a point at the start that she didn't want any heckling..... sorry duck but if you're crap you're gonna get heckled or more likely the silent treatment.Stokies are a tough crowd 😀
I saw another mildly well known tv comic a few years ago perform his new routine prior to his national tour.He was dire....his name escapes me,if it comes back I'll edit

Come on, give us a description - let's play a "who did I see?" game.
