Anytime after school and especially on the holidays (you get the big gangs) . They mainly hang around west croydon train station because of the KFC there. They also walk around by the car park attached to Centrale.
This happened on 3 occasions last year. Both times they got asked the question
"who you with?" referring to gangs I suppose. They seem to target teens so older people are ok, unless they are drunk then I think anyone is game.
Gangs of kids on school hols don't sound too badThis happened on 3 occasions last year. Both times they got asked the question

Spent 4 very fine peaceful hours playing golf this morning at Addington, only 5 minutes drive from E Croydon station.
Croydon's not all bad.
Just most of it.
You mean the golf course they found the severed head in a few years back right?Croydon's not all bad.
Just most of it.
May not have been head although I'm pretty sure it was, might have been some other body part. (I must have only been 10 or 11 then )

Croydon, the Hull of the south ......
I would rather put an electric whisk with stanley blades attached to it up my ass and stick it on high speed, than spend time in Croydon

A Primark security guard had to be taken to hospital after being attacked by a group of yobs in the shop.
A fracas broke out in the store in North End, Croydon, on Wednesday afternoon.
At around 5.15pm the thugs started arguing with staff and then attacked them.

A member of staff explained: "Some young people started fighting and they hit one of the supervisors with an umbrella.
"One security guard also got hurt and had to go to hospital. They had all been hanging around, I don't know why they did it - we don't normally have things like that happen here."
Croydon's a dump. There's a bloke who runs a corner shop in west Croydon who gets robbed every few months. Last time he got stabbed. Lots of drugs, prostitutes and robberies.A fracas broke out in the store in North End, Croydon, on Wednesday afternoon.

Probably similar to a lot of London now. Also avoid Norwood and Thornton heath
as they are utter steholes

Lived in croydon all my life. Avoid timebridge/man on the moon area of Addington, oh and also the parade, actually just avoid Addington as a whole. Norbury is a nice area but 5 minutes either way and it gets rough (Thorton Heath one way Streatham the other)
Streatham isn't rough, just rather manky. I've been here for 5 years now and seen much less trouble than in other apparently more salubrious places.Croydon is the only place I go where everyone seems to want to start a fight.

Isn't Streatham the place where somebody got shot at the ice rink?
Yes, poor bugger got shot a couple of years ago. There have been a couple more since then which have been gang related. The Ice-Rink and a more recent one were about 1/4 a mile from my flat. As a resident of the area, IMO there isn't the same feeling of scrotery that I had when living in Tooting or Clapham. A night out on the High Road is less likely to end up in anyone getting grief than many other places I go out too.I won't deny it's manky here but not what I would call (maybe we all have different definitions of rough??).
Can't wait to get out of here though, getting out in the car is a nightmare!
had a work colleague that lived there and he described it like this:

ok.... now i have had a chance to read it all the way through...
Clapham has its bad areas, stay away from clapham park, but generally good, quite expensive and very good links to city.
Streatham, have mates that lived in hill area and had no issues for the 3 years they lived there, one is about to move to streatham common and no issues. Trains are crap from here (hill mostly) avoid.
Croydon, only know south east croydon, south is ok as a friend lives there and hes scared of his own shadow and he likes the area. East cyodon to sandilands is ok, never had issues at or near the station or walking from there to sandilands, but then i usually had a 38" composite hockey stick in hand and that could be the reason why.... but in all seriousness I have loads of friends live there and they dont turn up stabbed or black and blue each week and if they like it, then I cant see why there is all this... its a dump, etc.... sure the main CBD is but then again its a CBD.
At the end of the day it depends on how much money you have and what you are looking for that will decide your choice.... I could throw balham, wandsworth and tooting in the mix, but depends on money.
