I'm a bit stuck at the moment with what to be looking at.

I'm heavily into oil companies (propective and producing)

Current oilies (in no particular order)

Afren
Tullow
BP
Rockhopper
Gulf Keystone
Borders & Southern
Desire
Sterling Energy

Does anyone have any shares they like/hold/watching?

Looking for inspiration, not advice. Happy investing guys.

Desire is my biggest holding, am hoping that will pay my mortgage off laugh

I'll have a look at the last four on your list, do a bit of research, just nice to see what others are doing.

retail investment companies? the trend has seen most climb as we venture out of the recession. public spending will only start to grow also which can only be good news for this sector?

im in with CAL at the moment. recently secured the funds they were after and due to renegotiate their banking covenants at the end of the month. could have a promising outcome for the mid-long term....

I tend to day trade so I'm usually looking for stocks that are quite volatile.

I seem to be trading the banking and mining stocks recently as there is usually a nice move and they tend to trade within ranges.

Looking at the Ftse today is crazy from where we were on Friday.
We have BARC + 16% RBS +15% LLOY + 16%.

Anyone who had the balls to take long positions on Friday probably has the biggest grin on their faces right now.

Yes but who did? even at 7am this morning 'they' were expecting the market to react very badly...

As you say fair play to those with the large kahunas.

My Xstrata position is looking a little less shocking now but as you say, they could lose that 11% as fast as they gained it...

its not mental, we are sitting on possibly 200mbbls, and have an area the size of the north sea basin that is now proven to contain hydrocarbons.

still massivly undervalued. the big boys came in today and i expect they will come in tomorrow too.

look at all the pre drill estimates about field sizes.. you will find this on any of the rockhopper corporate presentations about p10, p50 and p90 reserves.

here is one below, there are many more, from all the FI players about field sizes.

the only bits left to come are the oil quality api and the flow test.

the api will be given in 7-9 days, and then the flow test will be conducted later on as the equipment is in scotland, but we will have an inkling in 709 days.

good api = 30+,

RNS:

Sea Lion Exploration Well - 14/10-2

Oil Discovery - Completion of Well

Rockhopper Exploration, the North Falkland Basin oil and gas exploration company, is pleased to confirm that well 14/10-2 on the Sea Lion prospect has been successfully suspended for future testing.

The well was drilled to a total depth of 2,744m and the duration of the rig hire was 35 days.

Work continues on analysis of the results of the well The physical samples taken from the well are currently being transported to the United Kingdom by freight plane, and are due to arrive shortly. Based on that timetable, the Company anticipates making a further update within the next 10-15 days at which point it expects to be able to provide initial estimates of the potential size of the discovery.

Pierre Jungels, Executive Chairman, commented:

"I would like to thank the Company's staff, consultants and contractors for running such a professional and seamless operation during the drilling and suspension of our Sea Lion discovery.

The outcome is great news in itself, but it also demonstrates that small operators, with the correct planning by the Company, combined with the right support from outside experts and quality contractors, can work to the highest industry standards in terms of health, safety and respect for the environment whilst achieving excellent operational results. We can never be complacent in this regard and will seek to maintain this standard with the drilling of our Ernest prospect in the coming months."
