Recently bought a new, more powerful kettle. The water now boils faster and my Mrs is also convinced that said boiling water is hotter than it was from the old kettle...

Question on Celebrity Juice: "Where do fish breath from?"

GF shouts: "Ears"

GF also thinks clouds stay still in the sky, but the Earths rotation makes them look like they move. She told this to her daughter in front of me. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

She also didn't believe me that the rolls of grass sold at B&Q were real. She almost had a case of The Mental when I tried to explain how it gets there.

Heh, reminds me of a story my wife told me about an ex colleague of hers (apologies if I've told this one already). Said ex colleague drove to B&Q with her then-boyfriend (now husband). Boyfriend asks "what are we here for?" and she says "a bath". "Don't be silly, we've got a Corsa, we'll never get a bath in it" to which she says "It's fine, we'll get a flat-pack one".

Cue a full on barney because she's convinced you get such a thing as a flat-pack bath (awaits some smart-arse coming along with a link to just that) which ended when she got back into the car in a strop and drove off and left him standing in the B&Q car park...

Reminds me of Gabby, a cuban girlfriend looking up at the night sky where the clouds were flitting across the face of the moon. "Damn the moon is moving fast tonight!"

It's not an incorrect statement in itself.

Well it is. I'm not aware that the moon has a fluctuation in it's speed of travel at all?

She never said it was moving faster than usual, she just said it was moving fast. And it is. It's moving fast around the Earth while we move fast around the sun which moves fast around the milky war which moves fast around the cosmos. She's a genius.

"It's moving fast tonight" would suggest it hasn't been moving as fast on previous nights.

I would've never known that, I'm not aware of night service buses where I am, they mainly finish at about 11pm

I suggests it for sure, but it's not definite. Sometimes you might look at your car and think it looks great. But it doesn't mean it didn't look the same yesterday.
