The answer is annoyingly simple.

Stupid people with new phones much cleverer than they are, and they mistype thinking they're putting a space between each word. Of course, the only phones where one can do this are the ones with physical kepypads where either the space key or the puctuation key are in one corner. Which don't tend to be that clever.

I knew someone who's space bar had broken and they used - in between every word instead of a space. Others are just idiots.

TBF, the Amanda Todd thing is a relevant and current story so not surprising if a lot of people - especially teens are aware of it.

On the other hand younger people may not be so aware of Nirvana.
